Thanks in advance Abinash
Dear ALL !!
Sorry for being late as i never been to this site after getting into ePGP. The below are the point i just want to explain:- 1. The course is good n if u r thinking to gain knowledge than its the best plateform to have it. 2. The course is very hectic in terms of assingments, case studies, project and quizzes. 3. Be sure to leave ur social life at one side for 2 years. 4. some professors are not good so b ready to ready urself and cope up with the exams. 5. Getting pass is not a big task but getting good marks is really a betto win. 6. I on my own really feels that its gives u knowledge but sometime at the time of exam i really scare as we working guys didnt have much time to read. and IIMK never compromise with their standard. 7. If u keen to increase ur knowledge then this is a must go programme for u. 8. After just on the way to complete one year, i cant say anything about comapny's point of view for same..but yes definitly u will find that u have something in u to speak in interview.
Hi, Greetings to all! I am an Engg. graduate wih overall 8 years exp. in Auto & Aero industries. I tried for flagship executive MBA programs and due to the following reasons I changed my mind. 1. High Program costs varying from 15-25 lakhs 2. Family accomodation is not available in some programs (IIMC VLM with low cost) 3. 1 year loss of salary (CTC - 9-10 lakhs) 4. Changing of family & work location (right now I am in chennai) 5. GMAT Prep.+ poor planning (rescheduled 3 times and lost 350$) So I tried for different options and I got Hughes net and NIIT Imperia options. But due to the IVY levy programs (atleast I prepared for that), I am not able to set my mind for going into IDL modes of other programs except ePGP. I read the whole PG blogs and I found that this program is slowly picking up in the market. I just posted (copied) the 19-08-2009 & 22-03-2011 opinions about this program. Kindly compare this and someone can provide the latest Pros. & cons. about this program so that I can decide on this. Re: ePGP from IIMK - 19-08-2009, 09:09 AM ePGP is an extention of the eMEP program offered by IIMK ,as for the feedback which i got from the previous batches it was very discouraging.
1.They said that they didnt receive any recognition from the market. 2.Bad experience with the mode of delivery with constant hitches in technology. 3.Wastage of there money,in case of ePGP it is even more. 4.Classroom contact with faculty cant be simulated by this medium. 5.Institute has main focus on their flagship PGP so these executive programs are just mere revenue generating concepts for the development of their infrastructure. 6.Even specialisation courses offered by IIMK are not up to the mark as the faculty which was used for these programs was not the best from the institute moreover some very good faculty has already left the institute. 7.The entrance exam conducted by them is just a farce everybody can clear it ,it is conducted just to increase the appeal of the program. 8.Even after spending 5lakhs no placement by them. 9. The time spent on each course in the different programs is also not sufficient as it is just a mere exercise to compelete the courses, the incampus module makes it look good but after the classes are conducted by this medium with hughes the reality comes into place and every dream goes for a toss.
So think twice before spending such large sums as for others it was a complete wastage it would be better to slog for a CAT or GMAT and get entrance in other full time ePGP's which offer placements as well or go in for symbiosis,NMIMS,IMT,AMITY or IGNOU for distance MBA. Re: ePGP from IIMK - 22-03-2011, 12:01 PM IIMK ePGP is one of the finest and rich programme meant for executives with 5+ years of experience and those who do not want to leave the job. Why it is the best option:
(i) IIMK is the fastest growing IIMs in India today (ii) ePGP and PGP are recognized courses by AMBA (iii) ePGP students in coming days will also avail placements (iv) Same course materials/case studies and books are shared with ePGP students which are shared with PGP students (v) IDL tag will not be there anymore with the ePGP course (vi) ePGP students are awarded with degrees in a highly formal mega convocation events organized by IIMK (vii) ePGP students are selected through an entrance examination on CAT pattern and a personal interview (viii) Course is rigorous, and one has to pass through numerous impromptu quizzes, assignments, case students, class participation and final exams
To summarize, IDL is just a misnomer, its a full fledged advance executive programme and those aspiring for it, should start preparing for it and if selected, then should join it...
hi all, can any alumni/seniors tel me if IIMs give their email IDs to students of executive programs (thru online virtual classes programs-like Hughes and NIIT Imperia courses )?
I am Project Manager in Indian IT company having more than 10 years of exp and based in Bangalore. I am planning to pursue ePGP. Which one is better option between ePGP from IIMK (2 year part time) or ePGP from IIMB (1 year residential) in terms of adding value to the career and future growth prospects? I understand that there is extra cost associated with ePGP from IIMB and I can bear that cost and I can take one year off from work.
ePGP 1yr full time residential program from IIMB :-
better value for
your money invested as its an IIM and you are an elite in the Management world.
your career as you can move up the value chain in your company,
your resume as you get a Executive MBA degree from IIM,
your learning as its classroom and you get to interact with all students and faculty in person
as well as opportunity to get better placement as they have placement assistance.
get to meet industry bigwigs and build contacts and have a network which can help you to shift/move in your career.
Sacrifices
you need to shell out around 22to 25 lakhs
you will loose your 1yr salary between (10 to 20 lakhs) based on your Exp.
its residential so you need to move away from family.
its very hectic 1yr study and you need to get into hardcore study mode and burn midnight oil to come out in flying colours.
ePGP 2yr part time/IDL from IIMk :-
better value for
your money invested as you invest only 5lakhs againts 20+ lakhs for full time EMBA.
your career as you can move up the value chain,
your resume as you get PG Diploma from IIM, this can help you in getting better roles, job in the industry.
you will Not loose your 1yr salary as you can study while you are working.
you dont have to move away from your family
DisAdvantage
your learning can be skewed as you are not having personal interaction with faculty,
No opportunity to get better placement as they have no placement assistance.
you dont get to meet industry bigwigs and build contacts and have a network which can help you to shift/move in your career.
ePG Diploma from IIM is good compared to a full time EMBA from Ex:- Symbiosis, but not the best and not recognized as much as EMBA in industry as its only a Diploma.
Questions you need to Ask Yourself:-
why do i need a Executive MBA
how much money do i have at my disposal
can i sacrifice 1yr full time or 2yr parttime of my professional life & personal life
Do i have it in me to Start studies again after so many years
Can i do justice to the program iam joining.
Do i have enough Experience behind me to do this program. ideally(7 to 15yrs)
Conclusion:-
Both the Programs are Good, Question is what is it that you want and can afford.
A full time Executive MBA/EPGP is the best & better than a part time/IDL based ePGP program.but if you dont have the time, money and sacrifice to do the Full time EMBA, the part time ePGP is definately a Boost to your Career. even if you dont get better salary or change of role/job, you atleast learn something and get a certificate/diploma/Degree which not everybody in the industry has.
Finally its better to do Something wrather than Analysing and Finally doing Nothing.
I work in IT areas so due to project work etc I may have to be onsite (for weeks/months) so what I want to know is:
1. Is it mandatory for someone to attend the course at Hughes IDL centers or one can cover a particular lecture/module via internet from anywhere. 2. Are timings flexible? I mean do we have to attend lectures(via IDL) at a fixed time or we can cover the same module at our convenience (but in the same week).
I am sure many guys must be having similar issues as this program is for working professionals and due to emergencies / meetings etc its not possible to attend a particular module at the specified time.
I understand that, one has to be at IIMK campus once every year but apart from that I want to know how flexible this program is w.r.t. location/timings etc.
I have been through these lists before i joined ePGP in 2010. I am now 1.5 yrs through the course and find it's totally worth it. For those of you interested to know more
Guys, need your feedback on below mentioned points.
Is Diploma from 2yrs EPGP IIMK from hugheseducation is considered as valid degree? Can we apply for PhD in management after it? Can we apply for job from IIMK alumini?
I have got selected for ePGP 08 batch from Bangalore location. I have around 5.2 years of experience (Non-IT/power electronics/R&D) [ Strategy 2020: Down to the line I want to slightly modify my profile from core designer to management]. I am in dilemma whether to take admission for this course or not. Not able to take decision....Deadline for accepting this offer is on or before 10-sep-2015. I have gone through the posts but seems like all the posts are quite old. Is there anyone from recent batch of ePGP? What is your outlook of this program (Overall aspect) ? What is the situation of this program now (value)? How does company (MNC) look into this program in India and abroad(recognition)? How does this program helping you to get goal (short-term and full-term)?
