ePGP from IIMK 2023

2. I do not know the exact stats; but one way to get an estimate is to check the profiles of the current eMEP and ePGP students, available at iimk website.

3. One of the question I asked interview panel was how does this program compare to regular PGP, content and faculty wise. Whereas interviewer did confirm that content and faculty wise it is similar, I guess this program will never be comparable to the regular programs.
I believe differentiating factor for regular IIM programs is not just content and faculty. I think what really seperates them is the entry barrier to the program, that fact that only a small number of applicants makes to the program makes these programs elite. eMEP/ePGP may not be have this advantage.
In terms of brand IIM, I think IIMs are consciously keeping IDL programs in different league compare to regular programs and we might be disappointed if we keep expectations too high.

If I read between the lines of all feedback I got, industry recognition of the program may be absent, unless you are able to convince your company HR/Manager you have acquired additional knowledge in management and ready for higher responsibilities.
I agree that acquiring knowledge and self development is a very important USP, but I am not sure how many of us are willing to spend 5 lac for acquiring knowledge.

How does eMEP/ePGP compares to the part time weekend class room based Management programs available (as example institutes like TA Pai. NMIMS in Bangalore)? These programs may actually cost you less and provides direct class room interaction.

@whitehat: all your points are valid, however comparing regular PGP and ePGP is akin to comparing apples to oranges. My reasons why:
1. People vying for regular PGP have industry exp of less than 2-3 yrs on average (majority of the class consists of freshers and ppl less than 2 yrs work ex). I do not think people having 7-8+ yrs of work ex will get significant learning with these such kind of batch. Given a choice, I would prefer to learn in a class where majority of the batch would have equivalent if not more work ex than me.
2. Regarding entry barriers, let me tell you the fact that even for regular full time 1 yr PGPX programs of IIM A,B,C,L,I - the total num of candidates applying does not exceed 2000. Of course I agree that the profile of these people is pretty solid - however getting in is comparitively easier than in the 2 yr PGP programs of these IIM's. For that matter, I have appeared and cleared various part time program selection (SIBM Pune Exe MBA, SIIB Exe MBA-IB, SCMHRD Exe MBA) and the IIMK procedure was comparitively tougher to get into.
3. Puys in bangalore, other cities may have options of attending class room programs, however for ppl who dont have that option this is the best option. I agree class room learning has its own advantages - but getting a diploma from IIM has far more recongition and nullifies the fact that you are studying over IDL.
4. IIM C, L, IIFT, MDI, etc all have IDL courses and as per the feedback from my previous manager who has done IIMC EGMP program, IIMK ePGP is the best among all on offer currently.

So, in a nutshell - if you can afford to spare time (6 months for GMAT prep + 1 yr for the PGPX program), money (read course fees of 15L+ and 1 yr sal) and effort in getting a good GMAT score then go for 1 yr PGPX. If you cannot, then this is the best option you have at present.

The comparison of this course with other programs need to be done on multiple levels.

1) eMEP/ePGP vs other IDL based programs like the one from IIMC (one yr), XLRI's PGCBM (one yr).

2) eMEP/EPGP vs the weekend programs offered by TA Pai, S P Jain, NMIMS, IIFT etc.

3) eMEP/ePGP vs PGPX (this is addressed by greyhawk in his post)

4) eMEP/ePGP vs PGSEM of IIMB.

Hi All,
I have added some more points to the comparison list:

5) Fees of eMEP/ePGP Vs other IDL programmes ot Part time MBA

6) Delievery of the programme from hughes centre, is it really worth, that we will be able to understand and grasp the things or we will be the mere listener

6) Worth and recognization of the programme as compared to huge fees of Six lakhs

One of the main reason that why we all are having so much discussion on this is that as programme will cost an individual around 6 lakhs ruppees, which is not a small amount. What i mean here if the programme fess would be only 50 thousand rupees than no one would have discussed all these things here. So we should empasize that is it worth spending 6 lakhs ruppess here and join the programme or join XLRI, IIMC, IIFT or MDI IDL programme which costs only around 3 lakhs and give the same recognization as through IIMK-EPGP.

Also, we should analyze that spending 6 lakhs ruppees on this programme is worth or should we prepare hard for GMAT and get admission to PGPX one year residential programmes from IIMK, IIMC, IIMB, IIMA, XLRI or ISB or from outside india. May be that means almost around 15 to 20 lakhs ruppess but outcome in those programmes is immediate and as true and visi ble it is very good also.

I would advice everybody that not to make any decision in a hurry, because 6 lakhs is a very huge amount and we should discuss every aspect, pros and cons before deciding.

@greyhawk , Your right it is akin to discussing between apples and oranges. but some thing that all of us here should realize is the reason why we are doing the course ( if we are). try this pov;
1)right now is the est time to invest in higher education. the world os just coming out of the recession and there are jobs opening up again. So its definitely a good time to invest in your self.
2) I know ppl whi have enrolled at full time programs from reputed institutes like SIBM , TA Pai etc at a fee tats quiet possible double of what thsi PG course will cost. Imagine spending more than 10 lakhs for an MBA and not getting an offer thats should cover that cost in teh 1st year. There too the ROI is not immediate. It takes time. I also know of a couple of kids at office who are from IIM full time programs - frankly unless you have drive you can't move up on the laurel of an IIM dipoma. Its an addition to ur knowledge ,learn to use it.
3) i once read that education is like a tool/weapon. how you use it and when you want to use it is up to you. but the most important factor is the 'user' you. you should decide how to use it. Brand name , paper weight etc is all great but if one cant put what he has learnt to full use, well then you've not just lost 5-6 lakhs , but your time too and that's way more valuable.
4) Education is a good thing - and if you're going to do that with ppl who have a couple of years under their belt , its all the more better. there will be different ppl to learn from , and different experiences.
5) Time - 3 days a week - 9hrs/week - 36hs /month - one had better learn work life balance. Cz this is actually a grueling program, Don't forget assignments and the like also. Believe we also need to go down to Calicut once in a while.
lastly , we should ask ourselves what do I want from this course. How will it better me; what difference can i make to my future. and there is no wrong answer here.

Just to add, we may only get a clearer pic of the course from ppl who have done the course , and have passed out of it.

As far as I know - You may get a loan for the program, but as this is not a a full time course, you cannot avail tax benefit on the interest paid for the course.

hi milind,
I spoke to the HDFC bangalore branch and initiated the loan process
I also came to know that the interest towards loan ,is in fact, can be quoted for tax rebate under 80E

Hi Chandru,

Does they confirmed the interest percentage? I was told 13% earlier on reducing interest method in Bangalore.
I Can't find you in Linked-in? Please add, we could chat on this topic.

Hi All,

Goodevening. I haven't recieved the hard copy of admission letter till yet, hence request to all of you to update regarding the below query:

a) How the 1st Installment of the fees has to be submitted for EPGP-03 course? Do we have to just make a demand draft of Rs 1.25 L in favour of "Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode", payable
at Kozhikode and send it to IIMK or do we need to fill any form or send any additional documents also with the Demand Draft.

Regards,
Sharad Gupta

The sum will be paid in installments only

Any idea about accomodation from 26th Sept - 1st Oct???

Are you going to submit the fees and forms in person or via post.

Thanks,

please check mail , we have to make our own arngment.

Have you noticed that the fee submission timelines for the course are very close.if you add up it mean that one has to pay lakhs at one years end as compaired to the end of 2012

Hello All,

Good to see similar set of questions which we had one year back. I am from ePGP - 02 Batch .My friend Manoj had answered couple of questions but i still felt may be some more queries needs to be answered.

1. DO you have any other option / any other MBA program where u have an offer ?
2. Can you spend GMAT prep time + 1 Yr PGPX from IIM or premium instititute + 1 Yr without Sal + afford 15 L for the course + not everyone ends up in lucrative job after PGPX .. Huge Opportunity Cost ..
3. I think by this you would have answered the tough decision question .
4. This program is good and Very Hectic however future no one knows .

Regards
Pratul

can you please explain a bit more in detail why its hectic? in the sense how much time do you have left in a week for your family and personal work?

Hi All,

Hi Sanjeev,

Welcome to this thread.. I am not from Delhi, but Gurgaon. Will be staying in Malabar Gates.
C you in Kozikhode 😉

Got a confirmation yesterday. Sadly my company does not recognize part time MBA as of now. Not sure what the future holds

Sid

IIMK ePGP is one of the finest and rich programme meant for executives with 5+ years of experience and those who do not want to leave the job. Why it is the best option:

(i) IIMK is the fastest growing IIMs in India today
(ii) ePGP and PGP are recognized courses by AMBA
(iii) ePGP students in coming days will also avail placements
(iv) Same course materials/case studies and books are shared with ePGP students which are shared with PGP students
(v) IDL tag will not be there anymore with the ePGP course
(vi) ePGP students are awarded with degrees in a highly formal mega convocation events organized by IIMK
(vii) ePGP students are selected through an entrance examination on CAT pattern and a personal interview
(viii) Course is rigorous, and one has to pass through numerous impromptu quizzes, assignments, case students, class participation and final exams

To summarize, IDL is just a misnomer, its a full fledged advance executive programme and those aspiring for it, should start preparing for it and if selected, then should join it...

All the best....
