Disabling thanks/groan till we fix a bug

Allo peoples. We are temporarily suspending thanks/groans on the forums. You will remember we had some outages when the forum would crash over the last week and we suffered one around 20 minutes ago. We finally isolated the bug and it was a thanks…

Allo peoples. We are temporarily suspending thanks/groans on the forums. You will remember we had some outages when the forum would crash over the last week and we suffered one around 20 minutes ago. We finally isolated the bug and it was a thanks/groan issue.

I can't go into detail about the bug because it can be abused when we get the feature back or on other forums. I really hope to sort this out over the next couple of days and get the feature back. Rest assured your data is safe. When we re-enable the feature, you should see all your thanks/groans :)

The bug did not affect the portal, so articles still contain the thanks/groans.

Bump. Brought back part functionality. I hope the site holds up without issues

Thanks for the constant notifications And yeah site is working fine and thank/groan is back, only difference is date of thanking/groaning is not visible, rest all is cool

I hope we will be getting new version soon Its last week of August you promised us the same period last time on SB :-P

@cp - yes, I removed the dates because I felt they were redundant. Kind of took the focus from the content (people who thanked). We are very close to a new version. Hope to beta it soon

Phew. Good to know that the thank/groan system is back online. I just posted a couple of decent posts where i may get some thanks/groans.... Dont wanna miss them. :-D :silly:

just a small observation, while we press a groan now, the dates still show.
also in the existing posts where groans are there, the dates are still showing.

Can you enable this feature for Life @ B-school sectionand AIWSAC section??
I feel it(dates) helps to understand the reading interval or spike in the reading of a life @ b-school thread as well for AIWSAC section.
Think about this suggestion.

Can't do it on a section-by-section basis. In the new version of PG, you don't have to worry about the reading spike/interval - we will let you know in a much cooler fashion

Rahul, you can't. Its for everyone. We are providing a summary of your thanks/groans, but you can't drill down.

There were some cases where the amount of thanks/groans on a user were unrealistically huge, if you spot any such examples, please post them. I'll be manually fixing them and then issuing a user-base wide update. I fixed EagleMenace's groan figures for now. Link me up if you find any 😃

Nope. I was just asking for examples where there were groans to the tune of 2 ^ 32 - 1
