nonie Sayshey sakhi...even um frm chd...n in da same boat..dropped a yr for CAT..my score ws abysmal...n now even um planin to tak up MBE frm PU along wit CFA..but i do hav som misgivings abt ICFAI's course..do u hav ne idea abt AIMR CFA..i went through some f da threads by babu n tumtum who r pro ICFAI n den der is crash test dummy who is completely anti ICFAI..its al so confusing...n wt al r u preparin for da MBE enterance exam...

just submitted my application form for MBE today. well all other sections are related to CAT what i am worried about is Economic environment. i guess will have to drink eat and sleep economic times for that or business magzines. What are you doing regarding this? I am not sure about doing CFA right now. but i will surely do it. its in the pipeline. may be or may not be situation. Check the DU site for MBE. it may give some idea how to prepare. i'll let you know if and when i find out anything. ok. till then cya. 😃

Dont take me wrong, buddy. But if you are thinking to crack CFA along with symbi MBA, rethink. Rethinking might help you to save CFA Rs 50000 upward course fees.
I know friends who are stuck with different groups simply of the fact either they are persuing another challenging course or full time jobs.

i dont think it would be possible for u to give CFA exams along with the rigours of Symbi.As Cfa exams of ICFAI take place every 3 months its not advisable to do it along with a rigourous MBA programmme....
On the Finance front what u could OPT for is CFA offered by AIMR , us since u have to give only one exam per year its much more feasible.
Also exams takes place around JUNE AND DECEMBER YUOU CAN OPT FOR EITHER OF THEM.
It also much much more recognized than the one offered by ICFAI and jobs after completion are almost at par with symbi ones.

Book of formulae is for whole CFA. Very handy book. They first published in 2004.
You got cds?? You mean compact disk? Can you tell me more about that?

da economic environment section's bothering me as well.da sample paper in d OCET book contains one weird example which went straight over my head.n i guess we'll hav 2 do more than jus reading ET.i think ill go n scoot around for som material on monday.wil let ya kno if i find somthin gud.hav u applied for ne oder course at PU??n u kno wt, d MBE course ws earlier supposed to be under UBS n at d UBS campus...but now d course wil b provided at SD, DAV n khalsa..dts quite a damper..but den now v hv 90 seats instead f 30...

hey babu! i got my group alpha and beta material together, but only the alpha cd. they said beta is being updated. hope its the same with u guys too

They let us use that book during the exams also, which was good. But there were no CDs for us. It seems you guys are a pampered lot with all this 😛 while I had to memorize the formulae and keep it at the back of my mind "just in case the need arises". I would also like to know more regarding the contents of the CDs. Do they contain the past exam papers or some additional study material stuff? Juz let me know.

CFA_SMART, sorry to disturb you again but i am surprised you got cds!! I didnt got any CDs.I registered in december. May be they have updated the courseware after that.

Is there any negative marking in the paper? In the real question paper, its written "There may be negative marking. It doesnt pay to guess".
I am confused as some say there is and some say its not .As L 1 is fully objective , there is a scope for negative marking.

Well Babu bhai, the negative marking does exist.
In our time, we had 30 mks objective, 50 mks examples and 20 mks theory for Paper 1 of a group. At that time, the negative marking was of the magnitude of 1/n......meaning that if a objective question of 1 mark has 4 alternatives, then for a wrong answer, 1/4=o.25 mks would be deducted. If there were 5 options then it would be 1/5=0.20.
I guess, ICFAI is still continuing with the same system, which means that you guys will have to be doubly careful because now the pattern has changed and the whole L-1 has become objective type. So if a question is of 5 marks and has 5 alternatives, then for a wrong answer, you could end up losing one full mark. Thats why they have written the warning that it does not pay to guess !!

Yaar i didn't know that MBE is not provided at pu anymore. from where did you get the info? Can you tell me more about it.? At PU's site i could not find anything regarding MBE except that it exists. Yaar is there any scene of campus placement? was there earlier when the course was at PU?
So many questions for you. 😃 it'll be really nice of you if you'll ans me on all these.
and no i haven't applied for any other course in PU.

from where did you get the details. cause the site says ki MBE will be started in local colleges only. nothing else. Kya na. what are you studying rgarding the exam these days?
Hey guys...I've some updates for all you guys.....
...........1.The course fee has been raised from 50k to 57k
(late comers plz dont cribb...the course deserves the fee)
..........2. The amazing news is after completion of 2nd level ICFAI offers internship for a period of 4 weeks(full time) & 8 weeks (part time)...one can opt for any (full time or part time) internship...(Hey guys sorry im not sure if its 2nd level or 3rd, i'll confirm and let you know):
...........3.The minimum monthly income by a CFA-ICFAI(fresher) for this yr is 22k as per ICFAI, people with relevant exp even got 40k+
So guys put your best efforts and do well in each group as even that is considered once you complete your course(Ofcourse for better package)...
