CAT (Common Aptitude test) is one of the entrance exam for pursuing postgraduate programmes in Business Administration. It's Administrated by IIM (Indian Institutes of Management). Every Year large Number of candidates appear this Examination. CAT 2018 is for Admission in the Academic Year 2019-20. This Group will give information about necessary details and notifications about CAT 2018.


CAT 2018 Admit Card


  • Only those candidates will be able to get the CAT Admit Card who have successfully submitted their online application form.



  • Candidates can download the CAT Admit Card by entering their User ID and Password on CAT official webiste Given Below.

  • It is mandatory to bring the admit card at the examination centre on the day of the examination


CAT Exam Pattern:

Exam Mode: CAT exam will be Computer Based Test (CBT).


Exam Duration: CAT exam duration will be 3 hours (180 minutes). 60 minutes duration has been allotted to complete each section.


Type of Question: The questions will be multiple choice type and subjective type.


No. of Question: The question paper will comprise of total 100 questions.


Marking pattern: 3 marks for each correct answer.


Negative Marking: For multiple choice questions, one mark will be deducted for a wrong answer and for questions other than MCQs no marks will be deducted.

CAT Exam 2018 Syllabus

The syllabus for CAT exam is divided into three sections.

A) Quantitative Aptitude

Probability, Speed, Simple & Compound Interest, LCM and HCF, Ratio & Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Analogies, Time & Distance, Trigonometry.

B) Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning

Blood Relations, Calendars, Logical Sequence, Seating Arrangement, Binary Logic, Syllogism, Cubes & Clocks, Venn Diagrams, Logical Matching.

C) Verbal Ability 

Reading Comprehension, Analogies and Reverse, Verbal Reasoning, Meaning – Usage Match, English Usage and Grammar, Synonyms & Antonyms, Fill in the Blanks, Jumbled Paragraph.



The Quantitative Aptitude for CAT 2018 section comprises of fundamental mathematics, based on 10 + 2 difficulty level. Problems generally come from various topics like Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Commercial Mathematics (Word Problems). The questions are largely based on application of mathematics to solve real-time problems.


The Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning for Common Admission Test (CAT) comprises of questions which are based on the given data. The data given might be in the form of graphs, charts, tables and paragraphs. Data Interpretation questions for CAT exam test the candidate's understanding of the data and the ability to solve problems accurately. Logical Reasoning questions check the candidate's ability to analyse and evaluate problems.The Verbal Ability section comprises of questions on comprehension and usage of standard English grammar. 


Verbal Logic questions test the candidate's knowledge of arranging paragraphs in a logical order, determining the type of statements, completing the paragraphs in an appropriate way. It has to be noted that the Common Admission Test (CAT) does not predefine any specific chapters or content upon which questions can occur. However, any intricate term would be well defined, if the problem requires such knowledge.
