As soon as I entered the room and wished all of them , P1 joked that the Namaste way of wishing is much better . All of us started laughing .๐

P1 - Told me that I come from a very good institute ( my school) and then asked me about my school , what I learnt etc
P1 - He then commented that my school girls are considered snobbish . Is it true
I - justified by explaining about my school motto and all
P3 - Gave some HR elated situation and what Il do in such a case
I - Answered
P2 - Grilled me further on the above question and my answer but i was firm on my answer.
P3 - Told me I started thr GD well , then why I didn't say in the middle
I - Answered that everyone was giving valid points and I was giving an opportunity for others to contribute .
P3 further grilled me why this GD was good as we could not reach a complete consensus
I answered but not sure if he was fully convinced
P2 - Asked 3 qualities a leader should possess
I - Answered humility and gave example of Arvind Kejriwal and Mahatma Gandhi. P2 laughed and told me how I can take their names together . He even commented that I am speaking well but in an interview I should't address the Interviewers in 1st person ( Sometimes I used words like "You" , while explaining something )๐
Apologised for this and told him that I had got a bit informal.
After that whenever , I would start speaking a lot , I would pause and apologise that once again I had got informal and they would laugh . P2 asked me not to stop as I was doing good ๐
P3 - Asked me to give example for : Success comes with a baggage "
I -Gave an example and also told about a religious philosophy I was following
P1 - seemed interested in the Religious Philosophy and asked me the differnce between that and another Philosophy of Vipasana
I - Told him that didn't know Vipasna but explained him about my philosophy
P2 - Asked if I had any questions to ask
I - asked a question to which he replied they don't have much time to explain in detail. But , if I come to XRI then P3 will explain me in detail .๐

All in all , I very nice experience . Don't know if this interview was good or not but I enjoyed the interaction with the panel members as well as my GD Group

This was basically why HRM kind of question so answered it well.
2.Any change you saw in Delhi in past 6 months,it could be related to your personal life as well?
I mentioned about the political scenario and how Mr.Kejriwal's daily activities has gotten so much attention that my mom has transitioned from saas-bahu serials to NDTV and CNN-IBN.
On this everyone laughed and said so he has become a kind of entertainment,do you guys discuss him at work?I answered off course yes he is the hot topic near coffee machines.
3.So if you are asked to choose between Kejriwal,Modi and Rahul,whom will you call a leader?
I talked both about kejriwal and modi but he said he wants one so i answered Modi because I feel he has more clarity in his vision while mr.Kejriwal gives one solution to everything-"remove corruption,bring swaraj" but doesnt chart out his policies.Then he asked about qualities in Modi that makes him a leader.
4.If I say Modi is autocratic,Kejriwal is democratic both in extreme sense and Rahul is the middle one,whom will you choose as an HR manager?
I answered if hypothetically that's the case I think extremism won't work in an organisation,I have to set my goals but they should be aligned with the growth of the company, and if Rahul happens to be a mix of both,I will choose him.
Then P1 took over,he was the oldest among them and then he asked about the name of my company's HR head,I answered and said that even he is an XLRI alumni, on which he said ye he was my batchmate and after this interview atmosphere went more of a casual one.
He asked me difference between a CEO and HR head and how they are important?If you are your company's HR head, what all solutions you will bring in to make employees stay for long.
Then again the discussion went to discussing about my company's HR head.

1) P1 started the assault saying ohh a Mech. Engineer, unfortunately I know nothing abt it.. so please tell what mech. Eng. Is all about, like u will explain to a layman
Me- Started with bulky terms like mechanics, thermal engineering, manufacturing, operations to categorize mech. Eng. As soon as I named all she was abt to say like explain to a layman plz. Before she could pitch in I said what all I said mean nothing to you ofcourse so let me use props. She nodded nd smiled). So whatever was available on table like bottle, glass, table itself, spring pen, a/c, etc. I took her through a little journey in the field of mech. ( Satisfied look on her face I presume.)
P1- So u said abt diff. glass and plastic manufacturing processes. Which one is cheaper?
Me- Depends upon batch size I said. (She said single same shape thing say bottle.). I said definitely plastic, starting to explain the process but cut in between..
P1- Have u seen Amul kool bottles? Are they plastic ones? Even glass is difficult to transport? U mean they are doing it wrong? (a little fake surprise in her voice)
Me- No ma'am, it is abt the product which is inside, plastic packing is prone to more impurities, it ain't that protective so more chances of spoiling. That is why tetra packs are used in plastic to prevent the inner part with special chemical composition. (Hoping I was right.)
P1-Inquired any other reason u may think of? she asked something abt some other plastic bottle product which I had not heard of
Me- Sry nothing else comes to my mind, nd haven't heard of that product, but I still believe it will have to do with chemical composition of product. But as I haven't heard of it so no point speculating I said. She said No problem, that is fineโฆ she took my file from P2 nd till the end kept on checking it page by page.
Then comes P2 ( The ever smiling old sir, no matter what I said in my interview, right/ wrong he kept smiling nd nodding to my answers, a real confidence booster )
1)Looking at my profile said what u said abt mechanics, dynamics I remember they were from physics right? That is a science, nd u r a doing engineering, nd that from a Indian Institute of TECHNOLOGY? So I m a little confused, science, engineering and technologyโฆ elaborate on that..
Me- explained yes mechanics branch comes from physics, a little on science a theoretical study of what is happening all around, engineering is applying all these laws, phenomenon to get practical results. Then technology how u apply that, the means, R&d; bla blaโฆ even I don't know how I came up with such answer but they were impressed I could tell.
P2- Why XLRI? Me- started up with interest in operations, how I want to pack myself with full knowledge abt it.. bla bla blaโฆ P2- Then why not go for operations in NITIE the best there is? Or ur own iits?
Me- Started with a funny note, bcz they don't take me J everyone laughed.. said no call from nitie, how there is 19-20 difference between these institutesโฆ some institutes just look for workex first for operations field. Bla bla bla (Not the best of answers I know)โฆ
P2- So why not go for a job in this field then? (this is where I exactly wanted them to be)
Me- well rehearsed answerโฆ how real research work can be done from proper knowledge,this is what iit taught me, going in with full knowledge on subjectโฆ following others by doing what they are doing as in a job is not my style, a fresh mind has a lot of better scope for bringing something new to the tableโฆ examples from some of my some original research works during btech. Ended on funnote, that I m still 20, I can spend some years more studyingโฆ everyone laughed and P2 said u might be our youngest applicant in operations.. ๐
Then comes P3 ( most serious of the lot, but still friendly. )
P3- tested my Mech. Eng. Mostly stuff abt cars, gears, transmission etc. I could tell he knew very less on this topic( was asking abt gearbox but had no idea what dog gear/gear ratio is ๐ ) so went in with full confidence. Went well.. 1 or 2 question may be I couldn't ace but still found my way around. P3- Ur hobbies?
Me- told.. little on being a state level chess player, nd prof. tt playerโฆ but no cross questioning L P3- Asked a little abt why have I taken introduction to world history/ finance courses in btech.
Me- just my interest , this and that.. bla bla bla..
ohkay thank u.. they greeted me and said if u had something to say abt ur interview.. ๐ Taken back a little, wasn't expecting it.. so truth came out of my mouthโฆ that how it was not what I was expecting as per past interview exp. of people I heard, a lot better than I expected, no static gk or even general awareness testingโฆ

Me- thought I may have crossed my line.. so tried to cover it up.. but P2 said open up don't worry.. so I went on to say fact based knowledge, how general awareness is real imp, current affairs imp.. but something like what tag was given to a person in what xyz year ain't that imp then what made someone give him that title.. ?
They just as usual nodded and smiled.. ( I don't know whether i should have brought this up or not

Eng were way too basic to differentiateโฆ apart from that I wasn't tested that much on other thingsโฆ Now I feel gk hi puch liya hota.. aar ya paar to hota ๐
Your advice for future aspirants: Don't go by experiences, every day, every person is unique nd just barge in with confidence and leave the rest on luck/panel whomever u feel is more on ur side.

P2: So tell me your views on 'Oil is the fuel of the yesteryears'..
Me: Well I don't think so.. Gave some stats on usage of oil&gas;, some figures when I was interrupted
P2: Arre not Oil&Gas..; Only oil.
Me: Oh sorry I misinterpreted. (For people who don't understand the difference, oil is basically going to end very soon, gas is the future).. Gave gyaan on all this.. Told about tightrock gas, shale gas, how less it is, how new the tech is, can be exploited, the whole world can run on shale gas if properly tapped etc.
P2: So where is Shale gas found right now?
Me: Currently US is exploiting shale gas to a huge extent. Russia is largest exporter of gas etc etc.
P2: Differences between LPG, PNG, CNG .. Shale in India? Export? Import?
Me: Answered all the figures.. Took 1-2 minutes for all.. Boring for you to read so I'm not typing.
P2: So how much Shale gas is being exported from India?
Me: Thinking for 5 seconds. Sir, Not much in comparison to Natural Gas

Me: Sorry, I'm not aware of that (with a shameless smile)
*Now meanwhile P1 after having studied my folder, was constantly nudging the professors tying to show them my grades of the 1st 2 years. I had cummulative of 56 in the 1st 2 years and 76 in last 2. I had 8 re-exams in the 1st 2 and 0 in the last two. Much of what I did in the first 2 years was Counter-Strike ๐ ! I reached the highest level possible in India with that game and after 2 years I realised that in order to go to the international level I would have to quit studies, so I got back to the beaten path.. (India mei only engg or doctor right?).. Sorry for digressing. So he was basically shoving the mark-sheet on their faces with a snigger.
P1: *takes out a whole minute*. He reads all my subject names and grades from the first 4 semesters . I had a smile all the time ๐ !
P1: What is this? Absolutely pathetic. You've got AB, AA, AB, AB, AA in English, Communications, Literature, Internships, Project Viva, Dissertation, Final project. What petroleum have you done? Pathetic.
Me: There is no justification for what has happened. But if you observe the change that has happened from the first 2 years and the last two years, you can imagine the hard-work and dedication it must've taken for me to achieve the shift. Better late than never and I cannot change what has happened.

P1: Okay, this is outside the interview, let me give you some unsolicited advice, you don't do MBA this year, you are a great communicator and have very nice speaking etc skills, so work for 2-3 years and do exec. MBA.

But the whole process from geomech(finding out where the oil gas is) to exploration, production, midstream, refining etc can be done only done by an expert. Oil & Gas runs the world and petroleum engineers make it possible.

Your advice for future aspirants: Very random process. The trick would be to stay calm. I did get nervous at a few instances. Me: Told that it was a course more focussed on India's cultural revolution rather than independence struggle. How some people in India's past tried to make it more modern by introducing western education and changed the entire system

Me: Modernism is more of a cultural phenomenon and development is more towards economical
P2: Can one exist without the other?
Me: Yes, but in practice as most countries tend to develop they also face a cultural change towards modernism(unless these nations have very strict govt policies)
P2: So As a country develops it becomes more modern?
Me:(Now more cautious) Generally, though the countries own culture and tradition have a part to play(At this he starts smiling and I start smiling back even more broadly), of course I could be completely wrong(jokingly)
P3: Dont worry about that - I am just asking your opinion. Now if you wanted to calculate the Per Capita Income of all emplyed women in delhi how would you go about it.
Me: The problem is in collecting the data - I suppose you would want to go to the major employers(He interrupts me to say that I have to do it and not him, so I change my line). I suppose I would want to go to the major employers in delhi and get the information from them.
P3: What about the Maids??
Me: (Had me stumped - how on earth do you calculate what unregulated and on cash basis maids earn?? or how many of them are in delhi)I dont think that legally they can be called as emplyees since -
P3: Forget about legality
Me: Many maids are emplyed by companies which hire them out to various households and these compnies keep records and we might find what an average maid makes in delhi(pretty lame answer, i know).
P3: What about street cleaners
Me: Most of them are liscenced government employees - the government has to have records on their payments(This was the first time I was begining to become uncomfortable in the interview)

I was thankful they didnt pursue further line of questioning into my dubious methods of maid earnings calculations but still dissapointed - the interview was very chill and I was actually enjoying myself for most of it.
Your Advise to future aspirants: The Interview is a very chilled environment - dont feel nervous, try to enjoy yourself and it will be an enriching experience whether you get in or not.

Nobody smiled in the interview.Everybody looked damn serious.- I don't know why?
All of them were also looking disinterested, no questions asked from Essay/Questions/GD
Thogh all of them went through my file.
My interview lasted for 20 mins.1st 5-7 minutes were good, last 5-7 minutes were also good but middle 10-15 minutes discussion around acads went OK OK.(I wont say good but not disastrous either, may be Bit on negative side)

Didn't speak for 1 st 2mins as I font have any strong point but after that contributed 3-4 points after getting some clarity. No cuts, no chaos, consensus is reached and everybody summaraized in 20 mins

Me: smiled and explained him. He smiled back
P3: So have u stayed in one city all the tym ?
Me: No, told him that I was in Vizag till my +2 and then to Ranchi for my engineering
P3: tell some differences between Vizag and Ranchi ?
Me: told, some where I told language
P3: But I heard in Vizag many people speak Hindi why so ?
Me: told how over tym many people from north India moved there to work in steel plant and naval port

Me: I said infrastructure, Vizag being a developer city has a good infra, but Ranchi is slowly progressing towards development
P3: okay u worked for musigma before and then to HSBC, why did u switch
Me: told them that I am more interested in bankind sector than my previous client in musigma. So made a switch to analytics in HSbC. Eventhough it is not the real bankers work, I atleast get to wormk on their strategies and learn more about business

Me: agreed but told them that importance given to work done here is high and business actually takes decisions on work done here
P3: tell me what are your views about Economic scenario of india
Me: said that it was stable and progressing in right direction. Told them how it sustained the recession and told about good inflation getting down blah blah..
P3 : whats the GDP growth of India ?
Me: Told
P3: so which country should you think India should see as role model for growth
Me: I carefully avoided china thinking that it would land me in trouble, so placed my bets on Germany

P3: why did you say Germany ?
Me: told how it has focused more on manufacturing sector Nd has grown with self sustainability
suddenly p2 got interested and asked me why do u think do you think India has not grown in Manufacturing sector ?
Me: said that this sector involves a lot of investement and with India having more than 50% of its GDP from agricultural sector, more investements were made in that sector along with IT sector
P2 : how many crorepaties do you think are there in india ?
Me: many I donn know exact number but billionares are 70+
P2: why do u think they are not investing in Manufacturing ?
Me: said that this sector needs huge investements and the tym to setup industry is very high and short term returns are very less even though in long term you will got huge returns. Aovthey are investing in IT sector which gives faster returns
P2: why did u not say IT sector but manufacturing sector to focus upon.?
Me: gave my awkward funda saying that with stable IT sector stndrd of lvng is increasing in cities and evry body is looking at buying luxury goods like cars and good houses .. Donn know how theyrecieved it, suddenly everybody started staring at me .
P2: Said that this some new explanation they heard off. Said they will talk more on it later
P1: asked about what I do in my work ?

P1: he gave me an example and asked what are the factors affecting the decision ?
Me: explained the funda and told them the factors. Some where I said decision tree analysis
P1: how does your decision tree look like ?
Me: explained
P1: so what statistical techniques do you use to make decision tree ?
Me: said CHAID (For people who don't understand. It is model used in analytics.)
P1: how to make buckets in CHAID ? And 6-7 questions around thats.
Me: answered all correctly.
all three of them look at each other and said that we are done and you can leave now.
except for the Germany part where I think I tried to defend my point. I couldn't make what those people were thinking from their face expressions.

GD/GE Topic:It It was a case study regarding CSR activity of corporates.

Brief snapshot of discussion:The discussion was pretty good and balanced . No fish market situation. i started the GD bring forth some good points. besides that made few good points in the middle and towards the end.
PI: It was more of a stress interview , none of us( me and the panelist) smiled during those 25 minutes. The were three people in the panel
P1- He was the technical guy , grilling everyone on their graduation subjects
P2-Old uncle , smiling budha sort of guy , did not give a give shit as to what i was i saying
P3-The cross questioning proff. would cross question and negate everything i said.
The interview began with P1 drilling me on Mechanical engineering. This went on for 5 mins and I hardly answered any question properly .
Then P3 comes into picture with question on Communism and corruption as to which is more evil.
I said communism is more deep rooted than corruption to which both P1 and p2 jumped on me and henceforth negated every point i made in my defense . Then the interview moved to why hr and my moment of realization as to why i wanted to major in hr. I tried my best to convince the "inconvincibles" but it seemed like all my efforts went in vain. Then P2 asks me to list down things in order of priority which determine a compan's growth. the moment i done with it all three of them pounce on me (even the smiling budha guy) cross question everything that i wrote.
At the end interview , me and smiling budha discussed the as to why is Jharkhand not doing very well.And again P1 and P2 get to cross question me. Finally the interview end end on high note with me and the smiling budha guy sharing our love for sweets fo Chappan Bhog (an eatery joint in Jamshedpur).And guess what ..no cross questioning this time .
All in all it was they try to break down you composure and unsettle you. My advice to those going for interview would be to stay calm no matter how much they cross question or negate you..

They were just sitting silent and smiling when I entered. I sat there for about 10 seconds waiting - no effort from them to start - so I did. Spoke about myself - way too much for at least 2 mins. They came alive when I mentioned my love for Squash.
P1 - What is special about the squash balls?
Me - went on to explain the grading and how they work.
P1 - Why do they have to be warmed up? (Asked this twice, as I guess I wasn't being specific)
Me - Came up with something - later saw that I was right *wow*
P2 - Why are balls used in sport?
P2 - Different shapes of balls used in sports? Sports where balls aren't used. (Discussion ensued for 4-5 mins).
P1 - What is special about the material used in squash balls?
Me - "Some kind of rubber."
P1 - What kind? What else could be used?
Me - Kya??? No Idea ji!
P3 - Multi-Core Processors. What are they? Explain basically how they are made?
Me - Could only tell about multiple CPUs being there. Uske baad blank ๐ .
P3 - What do you do in your company? Why do you like it?
Me - Bol dia jo tha.
P3 - SO, what's the best place in Mumbai to interact with people?
Me - Yaar kya ho raha!! Ek do unique cheezen bol di.
P3 - What's TCS revenue? Convert into Rupees. Calculate Revenue per person.
Me - DISASTER - I used paper pen for this calculation - and took good 15 secs!! ๐ฒ . WHY??
P1 - If extroverts completely vanish from this world,which industry would suffer most?
Me - Gave a few egs - not the one they were looking for. COuld have said lobbyists ๐ .
P2 - You say you are social, SO your day must be spent majorly on Facebook?
Me - 1 min rant against facebook freaks.
P1 - Major problems faced by Agriculture in haryana and Punjab? (coz I'm from Haryana).
Me - One of my best answers of the day.
**THE END** - I mentioned Finance, talked about Current Affairs and tried to steer the conversation there - but they always responsed with a different question. They had planned it to be such a weird PI. Why? Not so sure about chances.

Me: Told. He made a few cross questions which I answered. He seemed convinced ๐
P3 : Asked about my stream and then started asking questions on electronics.
Me : Answered his questions.
Then he looked at P1 and she started asking me more questions on Electronics.
Me : wasn't able to answer one basic question.
Then she asked me 4-5 basic questions which I answered ๐
P2 : You're from Rajasthan. Take a south state and tell me 3 Similarities between both.
Me: Told two similarities, in which they cross questioned but were convinced.
P2 : Asked about CM of Rajasthan.
Me : Told.
P2: CM of TN?
Me : Told Karunanidhi spontaneously ๐ but then corrected myself.
P2 : So this is the 3rd similarity. (Women CMs).
P3 : What is water harvesting ?
Me : Told.
P3 : What is step irrigation ? and where is it practiced?
Me : Told him whatever I remembered but they were not convinced.
Meanwhile P1 was looking at my certificates. There was a marketing certificate.
P3 : Difference between sales and marketing?
Me : Told.
P1 : Asked me about what and how I did marketing?
Me : Explained them.
P1 : Thank you very much. You can take your file and a toffee.
Me : Thank you. Took a toffee and left.

Overall very good discussion almost covered all related topics, though the group did digress once or twice. Individual time was given for summarizing, I think I faltered here somewhat, but overall I would say a positive experience.

Any other details that you think are relevant: Don't know was a weird interview, generally HRM has this type of interview I feel. People before me were grilled on work ex, acads but nothing for me. I am happy though with my interview, though don't know what the panel was actually looking for, I might have got a bit too over friendly, that could be a negative I think, thoughts?
Also I think they were asking some basic maths problems from everyone.
Your advice for future aspirants: Well go in there expecting nothing you don't know the mood that these guys would be in. Overall everyone was saying that the panel is chilled (even those guys who were grilled). Let see hope for the best.
