"Uni-polar world is better than multi-polar world"
Interpretation of this is up for grabs. I interpreted it as polarity of idealogy or culture or power etc and blazed the essay from that assumption.

Work ex guys, mostly work related.
Be prepared to answer basic statistics or probability concepts and how you can apply them in your job! For example "Apply binomial distribution in your office" this questions was asked to me. Others were regarding hobbies, job profile and my industry (Utilities) of work ex as well. Other questions were our major customers etc and your office working culture related.
Also depends on the panel which panel, (there were 3 panels), you will be interviewd by. Our panel was pretty chilled out. I heard from other candidates, Some panels are grilling you on your strengths. I assume this is just to see how you react to stress and negative feedback. Some guys who gave interviews cribbed regarding this. I would say you got to expect the worst, so that you can smile and give your best answers when you don't know answers. Don't be immature and disrespect the panel in any way by counter arguments.

Certificate verification can be done before or after interview. Should be quick and stress free, if you keep the documents in the order they request you to.

Can't wait for "Second week of April"

Main Characters:
Two Male Professors (P1 : The HR guy P2: Maths Guy)
Moi
Act1: Scene1
P1: Welcome! So you have done your mechanical engineering from NIT Rourkela and you have Honors as well.
Moi: Yes Sir! (getting ready for disastrous acad centric interview)
P1: And you have (turns the page to experience section) 31 months of work ex!! When did you pass engineering?( I still look like a college student )
Moi: Sir, 2010
P1: Ok. And you work with ZS Associates. tell us something about the company. What it does. and what you do?
Moi: Talked a bit about ZS and its various types of projects. Talked about my role a bit
P1: So what do clients look for in a report that you send them, what are the key metrics?
Moi: Talked about the report granularity based on end user. Standard ZS dashboard structures. Explained
P1: So you must be working with databse and all and you are outsourced some of the work by clients.
Moi: Yes sir, thats one way of looking at it, but then clients usually dont have the capability to do it themselves etc etc....
P1: So who created the datamodel or design etc?
Moi: Sir, ZS does. Client just tells the requirement. There is involvement of clients in design phase but not much.
P1: Where do you get all the data from; Sales and promotion
Moi: talked briefly about how we get data form market and clients itself
P1: OK So rate your company on People, Culture and Processes
Moi: Blah Blah and Blah
P1 and P2: What is Culture?
Moi: Blah Blah
P1: Why so less in Process
Moi: Talked about how ZS can improve its processes and capabilities. Gave two three points and some discussion ensued
P1: You say one of your failures has been work life balance
Moi: Talked about too much work and how it hampers personal growth. Did justify that I took all the work on myself. Not sure if sounded like cribbing
P2: So how good are you with you maths?
Moi: Sheepish smile...I am ok sir.
P2: I will ask you easy 11th 12th probability. If there are 12 black balls and 4 white balls..You pick up one after another what is the probability that both are black.
Moi: 12/16*11/15
P2: Why multiply?
Moi: Not exclusive. They are dependant.
P2: Not convinced. Why not add
Moi: Multiplication rule sir. Adding would be wrong. If they were exclusive you could add and so on. I am not sure sir as to the how to explain this.
P2: Ok. So how many people are waiting outside?
Moi: Sir around 25
P2: Ok. How would you tell me what is the typical weight of the group?
Moi: Typical Weight!!! What is typical weight?
P2: You tell me!!
Moi: Are we talking about average weight?
P2: Ok. So why do you think you should consider average as the measure of typical weight?
Moi: Ohh, now I understand what you meant by Typical weight. Sorry sir. We cant take average here. Cause dat ais too skewed right now. We cant take mode because size of population is very small. So we will find the median weight.
P2: How do you find mode and median
Moi: Answered
P2: When is median better than mean?
Moi: Answered
P2: Seems satisfied and said do you follow News?
Moi: Yes Sir
P2: paper or e-version?
Moi: Nothing hard and fast. Depends on when and where I am reading.
P2: Tell me about one news that you followed recently
Moi: Afzal Guru Hanging
P2: What are your opinions
Moi: Blah Blah and Blah and Blah abd Blah
P2: Ok. So where did we have recent assembly election
Moi: Sir Gujurat. (missed Himachal Pradesh. blame the mainstream populist media for that)
P2: So what was the result
Moi: Sir Modi had a resounding victory
P2: Ok thank you
P1: Take you chocolate
Moi: Decide against picking up the pack of polo and settle for one alpenliebe

I would say, be precise, jot down points on the rough paper and b real quick!
Mine was the first interview in group 3:

Two Male Profs { I-The HR Guy and I(2)-Maths Guy }
and Me!!
Me: good morning sir!
I: GM. Sit down.
Me: thank you.
I: So, you work in a blast furnace
Me: Yes sir.
I: what is level II automation? (I had mentioned it in the form)
ME: answered.
I: what is level III?
Me: answered. Gave example of big bazaar, how they make use of it.
I: what is level I.
Me: answered. Then spoke bout level II wrt my furnace. How diff auxiliary units r connected centrally with a server so that centralized administration is possible.
I: what parameters you look after?
Me: to produce hot metal of requisite quality as per t target productions given by my bosses. spoke about blast flow, top pressure, how it affects, quality control
I: quality control?
Me: decarburization, desiliconization, dephosphorization. Explained y we maintain basic slag and not acidic..
I used t word we follow the IDEOLOGY of maintaining basic slag.
I: y ideology?
Me: explained that I have learned it from my bosses t advantages of maintaining basic slag. Told in my academics I had learned it t diff way. Acidic slag gives better productivity compromising t quality. Told bhilai steel plant maintains acidic slag.
I (2): so tell me your favorite subject in maths!??
Me: got numb.. said, I ll try.
I (2): drew a axis, scribbled and asked me to find t equation of the thing he had drawn!! Asked does dis graph resembles anything.
Me: couldn't ans. Tried saying, consider few points on t graph, scale it, find their values, put it in t general equation and may b we could get it.
I (2): started laughing badly... Said tell me your strong subject in maths. Otherwise I ll keep on grilling you more and it will not be good for you.
Me: sir, the only use of maths these days in my life is some basic calculations related to the furnace parameters, is t furnace dry, coke rate and all..
I (2): still laughing, at-least derive x^3=1 roots
Me: started solving on t paper, fumbled in between. Got too nervous here, could get t roots in a minutes time. I told t roots as 1, w, w^2..
He asked their values and I got confused.
Got shaken here.
I: okay. Leave dis. tell me any other city outside India which is like Vizag.
Me: (thought he was asking bout a city with a deep port and a steel plant) said, there's only one other city like dis in t world, on t east coast of Africa, don remember t name.
I: leave it.. where is Singapore?
Me: to t east of India.
I: east?
Me: south east of India.
Actually he was expecting me to say Singapore, coz its t busiest port in t world, with more than half of world crude oil transportation from there.
I: beyond Singapore.
Me: Australia
I: then
Me: New Zealand.
I: then
Me: world being round, we'll land up in USA.
I: so we can travel from there to USA?
Me: its difficult coz of two oceans in between. But not impossible.
I: so tell me, suppose u r at t north pole, where will u reach earlier, new York or Seoul? Nd y?
Me: NY. Coz its at higher latitude in northern hemisphere.
I: in which hemisphere is Singapore?
Me: south
I: what passes through India? Something cancer, capricon..
Me: tropic of cancer.
I (2): so, Mr Bhattacharya is your boss?
Me: yes sir.
I (2): do u like him?
Me: Yes.
I(2): how good a manager is he? One thing u like nd one thng u dislike.
Me: spoke that he is a good planner, knows how to get work done, inspires, very knowledgeable and all.. One thing I don't like is that he doesn't share all t info!
I(2): so you dislike him?
Me: no sir. The info he shares with me is more than enough to get my job done. Rest things r out of my scope and job aspects right now. Spoke bout monthly planning and yearly planning and all done by t bosses...
I(2): then y do u wanna know all dis?
Me: in my personal interest sir. I want to learn more... Nd some more points..
Both of them, okay anything else you want to say..
Me: I'm a photography enthusiast.
I: so which cam u have and y, pros and cons?
Me: answered. Spoke bout t 2 lenses, pros and cons.
I: (he knew everything bout that cam, asked me magnification of t lens)
I: GM. Sit down.

I would say study maths, coz they were asking a lot bout it to everyone. They even asked laplace transformation and all to some other guys!
ATB
Hey Guys,
Thanks for posting your experiences. Just wanted to know if 'attested copies' of all our mark sheets and certificates are necessary, or the unattested ones would suffice?
Thanks in Advance!
Unattested would do. Just keep them arranged in the order mentioned earlier, to avoid any goof up.
Hey Guys,
Anyone done with ABM interview as yet? Have my ABM GD/PI in the ahmedabad campus on Saturday morning. Would be really helpful if someone could provide insights on interview experiences !
Thanks!
Has anybody had their PGP ABM interview yet?
@anshuman.mishra I am sorry if I sound ignorant, but can you help me with the concept of 'Typical Weight'. What does it mean exactly? Is it close to the weighted average of the weights?
@AnshikaSinha typical weight means the weight that will represent the whole groups weight as closely as possible. So statistically we can use mean weight, median weight or mode weight. I went ahead with mean.
