Hi Puys!!!!
It's that time of the year again... Application forms, CAT preps, last dates and the list is endless..
The admissions process for 2012-14 batch of SPJIMR has begun. The institute has published the admissions notice in the newspaper (Check today's edition of TOI ). Please feel free to post any queries related to admissions and other discussions and we'll be happy to help you out.
Please keep an eye on this thread and the college website SPJIMR - SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai for updates.
You can also shoot a mail to [email protected] for more info.
All the best to all the aspirants
A couple of pointers to keep the thread crisp and free of spam..
1. Use the Thanks button instead of posting thanks. Both serves the purpose equally but Thanks button lessens the length of the thread.
2. Questions are bound to get repeated as thread grows. But please try to go through 4-5 prior pages before posting your query. Maybe your question could have been answered.
3. It may take us some time to reply to your queries, but we will try to resolve it as fast as possible.
1) the admission form asks for only one specialization and not preferences! so if i want to apply for both MARKETING & FINANCE, can i fill up two separate forms?? or is it not allowed???
2) in the academic details,it asks for MARKS OBTAINED during GRADUATION! but we,engineers, are provided credits and not marks! so what shud i do? just write down the credits obtained and total credits (though its no way similar to the marks)??/
1. Our procedure allows you to apply for only 1 specialization. So chose the one which suits you/you are passionate about the most.
2. I think by credits you mean GPA. If your college does not have a system to convert GPA to percentage use the following formula
Percentage = (Your GPA/Maximum attainable GPA)*100
If say your GPA is 8.5 and maximum attainable is 10 -> 85%.
Hi,
Could you please let me know what is the approx CAT percentile required for SpJain.

We have admissions only through CAT, XAT or GMAT.
hi all,
first of all, a sincere thanks for starting this thread...following is my profile:
Xth--78.6%
XIIth--77.1%
Graduation--57.2%
Stream of Graduation--Dentistry (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)
Work-ex--exactly 2 years as on 30th September 2011
now, we know that S.P.Jain gives profile based calls...i mean profile has a heavy weight-age in deciding whether one gets a call or not...of course, decent CAT/XAT percentile is mandatory...
Kindly guide me...with a profile as stated above, do i stand a chance for S.P.Jain?? should i apply to S.P.Jain?? please
hi i have certain doubts regarding my candidature for the profile based call.
A brief about my profile:
Xth:88 % (ICSE)
XIIth:91 % (ISC)
Btech:83.4%
Workex:
9 months: Steel and Power sector.
16 months: IT -Software engineer with TCS
EC and Curricular: Have decent ones at school and college level but none of them are real BIG ones.(neither are they in any one particular field)..Once in job done nothing till now except work from 9-6 per day :banghead:
This will be my first and last attempt at SPJIMR so wanted you guys to rate my candidature..If i manage to get a CAT percentile ~95 what will be my chances of getting a call?
Also i am planning to get myself associated with some NGO later on once i am done with my CAT..can i mention that during the filling up of application beforehand?
Appreciate your help !!

Your percentages in 10th, 12th and graduation are NOT the sole criteria for determining a call. Getting a call depends upon a net cumulative score based on your Profile, work experience, extra curriculars, CAT/XAT/GMAT score and academics.
thanks alot for such a fast reply but i dnt think you got my question! they have already asked for GRADUATION %AGE! and the immediate next question is GRADUATION MARKS OBTAINED & TOTAL MARKS! what shud i write there???
2) what is the intake of different specialisations??
The first field is the percentage of marks obtained and in the second field fill the gpa for each year out of maximum possible...
The intake for the PGDM11-13 is 45 in each specialization. This year's criterion is still unknown. It will me made clear later on.
the application form requires us to enter the marks obtained out of the total marks(for each year in our UG), but in my college the system of grading is followed wherein the marks are not given..only the grades are give...wat to do in this case..???
Lot of ppl have told me that SP Jain gives a call based on d profile. Being a fresher, is it advisable to apply there.... ??

Profile based call evaluates every parameter in your profile. Job experience is just another parameter. So , even as a fresher , if your profile has the required substance ( like versatility , acheievements etc ) , you still remain in the competition.
SPJIMR welcomes freshers.
hi
This is my first time at mba exams so please dont mind if the question sounds silly. The admission brochure says that extra-curricular activities will be taken into consideration for shortlisting candidates. Does that mean we will have to enter details about our extra-curricular activities in the form somewhere??
Yes, the form asks for achievements in extra-curricular activities which you can mention in the versatility and achievements section.
Please have a look at the form. It is self-explanatory.
Regards,
Sapna

hi sapna.. thanks
and this is slightly off topic but could someone please give info about any other institutes that ask for extracurricular achievements in their application form itself?
