@avinash,
you can take up MBA ITBM...it would perfect complement you with the requisite skills to enter into the software industry
Also, you would be getting into a managerial role which will help you learn n understand more from the business perspective than from the technical side of IT
@abhadani
Students get placed in the following sectors - IT, COnsulting, BFSI, PSU, etc
Also the fee structure for the 2010-12 batch was 6.3 lacs for the entire course....fees structure for 2011-13 would be updated soon
Hi rohit , I've done my bba from SCMS(UG) one of your sister colleges. Also done a 10 month program with NIIT for Web dev applications.
i see on the college website that i am eligible to apply , but then it confuses me :
is the course going to be hard core IT based ? i mean coding and stuff ?
secondly what can be the challenges faced by a non IT background student (having an interest in IT) to cope up with other IT big shots who'll be joining the same college ?
how's the flow of teaching at SCIT , does the faculty take it for granted that if a student is attending the institute he better know the IT fundas , or do they even it out for the non techies to bring them at par ?
few of them for now

@mojo_jojo
Its a myth that if you get into any MBA-IT course, you would end up doing programming.
Students hear get Management profiles after completing their MBA. Even in cases if one has to do coding, its a part of the bigger responsibility bestowed upon him
Regd. a non-IT student joining the course, we do have students from BBA, B.Com, B.Sc, etc who are as competitive and able like engineers and able to grasp the concepts. The first month of your stay @ SCIT would be a levelling program wherein all of you would be taught the concepts of IT & IT related courses to get you all onto one level
So, rest assured you can go ahead and apply to SCIT

thanks for the elaborate explanation brother , few placements related queries :
what are the placement prospects for a non techie applicant vs a techie applicant ? i mean do companies prefer student from an IT background or do they treat both kinds at par ?
is there any disparity between the pay packages being offered to a guy from IT background and a non techie ?
basic assumption here is most of the recruiters are from the IT / Telecom sector.
my bad ignore
triple post fail , ignore
:
m B.E (i.t) agg 64.50% till sem7,,waitin 4 sem result8 still
my ssc-84.80% n 12-79.60%
my Sim SNAP Score of IMS is 67 percentile
m interested in INFORMATION SECURITY in SCIT
my queries:
1.how is the placement for the current (last/second) yr students i.e 2010
wht is the fee amount yearly n combined
2.wht z the package
3. even after the IS course,,is the degree called PGDBM MAtlab business mgmt????
4.my prof @ims told me tht scmhrd n sibm z better thn scit?is it true??
m also interested in doing it+mgmt or IS
--> IS informAtion security avail in scmhrd n othr institutes also??
SCIT is the only option avaialble for MBA with ISS as an elective
plcmnt average for last yr was 5.2 lacs
fee amount works out to aroun 6.5 lacs including hostel
the degree is called an MBA in ITBM(elective IS)
SCMHRD & SIBM are better than SCIT in case of a general MBA.....but for something IT specific.....SCIT is the place to be
Now lets start about the cutoff last year the SCIT Cutoff was 93 ( this is too high as compared to other years Thanks to CAT 09 Fiasco)
can someone shed some light on the 09-11 batch cutoff.
Also wud be great if someone can share the avg packaage for the work ex ppl (2+ yrs )
My profile is as follows:

Can you please brief me on the placement scenario in SCIT ?
Hello evreyone,
I have completed my B.C.S degree, but now i m thinking for SCIT...
But i am scoring 80-85 in moc snaps... so need suggestions from some SCIT people on whether i shoould see further for SCIT or continue with M.C.S
So pls suggest me.... I m waiting for suggestions...
SCIT worked out the final score for consideration of the shortlist on the following basis.
Final Score = SNAP Score + 10 marks for scoring more than 60% in each of 10th, 12th and aggregate of qualifying graduate exam + 5 marks for Engineering Graduates + 5 marks for Graduates with Computers Science/ Computer application/ IT + 5 marks for relevent full time Work experience above 18 months as on 1st September 2008, if any, + 5 marks for scoring more than 25% marks in each section of SNAP Test
Now, my details are as follows
10th - 64.67
12th - 62.67
B.E in Information Technology - 62.27
Currently working as Software Engineer with reputed MNC.(16 Months).
So, should I add 10 (for scoring more than 60% in each of 10th, 12th and aggregate of qualifying graduate exam) + 5 (marks for Engineering Graduates) + 5 (marks for Graduates with Computers Science/ Computer application/ IT) = 20 marks to my SNAP score.
