thanks prahlad for starting this thread.. i got a call from IIM Bangalore ..Verbal has bogged down my chances this year..but still happy ..I could manage B and L.

DI -- 98.15
Verbal -- 85.22 (just made it 8-) )
Overall -- 99.41

Class X - 88%
Class XII - 93.0%
B.E --82% (Mechanical Engg--Andhra University)
Work ex: 18 months in Infosys

dont worry about the single call
IIMB (and only IIMB) has a history of single call converts for many years now... so ure not alone :)
but dont take it for granted... work extra hard to convert it...
join some GD-PI class like time/ims etc. and u'll anyway get to know what all to prep...
we will focus on interview patterns etc soon
read a business newspaper if u havent started...

Try following up the previous yrs gd/pi threads available on PG. Find a profile that matches urs and see wot sort of questions were asked.
Keep acads last for preparation. Focus on just the basics. Usually, ppl with experience would not be asked much from the acad side.

I have a single call from IIM B and it was indeed a shocker as my percentile score is arnd 95.28 with the following sectionals

Quant- 83.84

DI- 83.59

Eu- 98.28

  1. Led school band thrice at the Republic Day Parade
  2. Captain of the school cricket team
  3. Won various music and singing competitions at the zonal level
Bachelors- Did my Bachelors in Business Economics from the University of Delhi with an aggregate score of 64%.

  2. Won various debates, extempores at the university level
Post Graduation- I have done a post graduate diploma in International Marketing affiliated to Delhi School of Economics with an aggregate score of 67%.
  1. Elected President of the Student society
  2. Asst Editor of the COllege newsletter
  3. Led the team to organize the college festival at the largest scale ever
  4. Did projects on Capital account convertibility and FInancial Inclusion
Work Experience

KPMG- Worked with KPMG Risk Advisory Services for a period of 5 months between July. to Nov 2007. Got a raise of over 40% for my performance on probabtion and got the promotion in just 3 months

Managementparadise.com- Worked for the management portal's Planned Delhi foray however for a period of 4 months between my grad and PG.(i have not mentioned it in the CAT form)

Entrepreneurship- I have become an entrepreneur and will be providing web based knowledge management services to academic institutions. I have launched a few websites and the biggest of them all will be launched in MARCH 2008.

Hobbies and Interests
  1. I like to write and u can evaluate the quality at The Opinion
  2. I like listening to bollywood music and Ghazals alongside EMINEM;s RAPS from the west

Frankly guys i have not seen anyone getting a call with as low scores as mine and hence i wud like the seniors to comment upon a realistic chance and how important do CAT score become in the second stage.
