Admission to TIET BTech/BE is based on JEE Main/NEET, Class 12 merits, and highest scores in Class 12 boards. The following information relates to the Thapar University admission process for BTech:

  • Mode 1: Based on JEE Main-2024 percentile for 50% of seats: 50% of total seats are filled based on JEE Main-2024 percentile.

NEET 2024 percentile fills 50% of the seats for BTech in Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering. The remaining 50% of seats are filled through Class 12 results.

  • Mode 2: Based on 10+2 PCM marks for 50% of seats: 50% of the seats are filled based on performance in the 10+2 or equivalent exam. The aggregate marks for selection are calculated on three subjects: Physics, Mathematics, and one of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or Technical Vocational.
  • Top five candidates on the Class 12 board: Candidates who rank among the top five in their respective Class 12 board are given direct admission. To be eligible, these candidates must take the JEE Main exam. However, the final merit list is based solely on the Class 12 percentile. To be admitted, these candidates must show proof of being in the top five.

In the final round of counselling, any seats left unfilled by Mode 1 or Mode 2 are filled by Mode 2 or Mode 1 and vice versa. For example, if seats are available under Mode 1 criteria, they are filled using the Class 12 percentile. Similarly, if seats remain vacant in Mode 2 criteria, candidates will be chosen for admission based on their JEE Main percentile.
