Patna University runs a number of courses at UG, PG and Doctoral curriculum with different specialisations. All the courses are functioning in various fields and some of them are Arts, Science, Commerce, Education, Management, Law, Medical and others. There are 10 constituent colleges under which Diploma courses and multiple courses are offered by the university.
With the guidance of dynamic faculty members, Patna University has bagged ‘Grade B+’ accreditation from NAAC. The university is approved by BCI and AICTE. Students can apply for Patna University both online & offline. The university accepts some national level exams which are CAT, BLET, MEET and MLET for the admission process.
At UG level several courses are offered such as B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BFA etc. To be eligible for all these UG program students must pass intermediate level with a minimum percentage from a recognized board. For admission to these courses the university conducts PUCET, students need to appear in this entrance exam and must obtain a qualified score to be selected. For being eligible to a B.Lib.Sc, LLB & B.Ed course, candidates need to complete graduation in any stream from a recognized university. Students must secure qualified marks in BLET & BEET exams respectively to be selected.
Along with conventional courses, the university offers professional courses too at the PG program. Traditional courses like M.A, M.Sc, M.Com and professional courses like MBA, M.Lib.Sc, MCA, LLM are offered by the university. Interested candidates should have done graduation in relevant disciplines from a recognized university. The university grants admission in both merit and entrance based. For different courses different entrance exams are accepted by Patna University. Such as for LLM & M.Ed students need to score qualified marks in MLET & MEET for final selection. For admission to M.A & MBA, the university accepts CAT/MAT/ATMA/JMET score followed by GD & PI.
At Doctoral level, the university offers PhD courses in a handful of specialisations. Some of the specialisations are Economics, Geography, Sanskrit, Statistics, Mathematics, Sociology and several others. To be eligible for a PhD program students need to complete post graduation in the same field with 55% marks in aggregate from a recognized university. Selection will be made on the basis of PAT score.
Apart from all these regular based programs, the university provides admission to Diploma, PG Diploma and Certificate courses too. Students will be selected on the basis of their previous qualifying results.
The university also offers a few courses under the Distance Education program. Courses like B.A, B.Com, B.Lib.Sc, BCA and PG Diploma are offered by Patna University in Distance Education program.

Patna University conducts PhD Admission Test (PAT) for admission to PhD courses. Interested candidates can apply for PAT & download the admit card from the official website. To be eligible for PAT, students are required to complete a Master’s degree with 55% marks in aggregate. Selection will be based on secured marks in PAT. There will be two papers which contain 100 marks each.
To be eligible for PAT students must pass Master’s degree in the same subject with 55% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.

Patna University conducts Bachelor of Education Entrance Test (BEET) for admission to B.Ed course. This exam is for selection to two Teacher Training Colleges namely Patna Training College & Women’s Training College. There are a total number of 100 seats available in both Patna Training College & Women’s Training College. It is a state level exam. The minimum eligibility is to complete a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in a related field.
Candidates should have done graduation in Science/ Commerce/ Humanities/ Social Science or M.Sc with 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized university. Or students can have a B.Tech or B.E degree with 55% marks in aggregate from a recognized university. There is a 5% relaxation for the students belonging to reservation categories. Candidates must meet or exceed the minimum cutoff marks demanded by the university.
The BEET is conducted in both offline & online mode. But BEET 2021 will be held in offline mode. The exam is divided into two parts. There are 5 sections in the papers. At part A there are 4 sections included and part B comprises only 1 section. The exam duration is 2 hours and the exam is for a total number of 100 marks. The questions will be in MCQs. For each right answer candidates are awarded 1 mark. Part A includes deciphering situations, thinking capability and problem-solving ability. Part B is to check the candidate’s knowledge.
