NIFT Patna – National Institute of Fashion Technology Overview

NIFT Patna was commenced in 2008. Earlier the campus was located in Udyog Bhavan, Gandhi Maidan. Later on, in 2014, it was shifted to the Mithapur Farms, Patna, which is its own campus.

The National Institute of Fashion and Technology offers UG and PG courses in different fashion subjects. These courses include B. Des, BF Tech, MFM etc. The courses include subjects like Accessory Design, Fashion Design, Textile Design, Fashion Communication, Master of Fashion Management etc.

National Institute of Fashion Technology, Patna is ranked 6th by India Today for its Fashion Designing courses. NIFT Patna ranking is 9th, which is given by The Week. The institute is ranked 8th by Outlook in the year 2019 for its fashion study.

NIFT Patna Courses offered and Fee structure

The institute offers many undergraduate and postgraduate fashion courses. Patna NIFT courses include MFM, B.F Tech, and B. Des etc. The B. Des course is offered in subjects like Leather Design, Accessory Design, Apparel Production, Fashion Design etc. Master of Fashion Management course is also available here.

Certificate courses like Fashion Design and Clothing Technology etc. are offered in the institute for one year. Patna NIFT fee structure for B.Des and BF Tech course is 7.89 lakh rupees. For their lateral entry options, the NIFT Patna fee structure is 5.03 lakhs and for MFM course, it is 3.91 lakhs.

NIFT Patna Admission Process

All the applicants are admitted to various fashion courses on the basis of the marks scored in the qualifying exam. The institute has its own qualifying exam called NIFT Entrance Exam which contains two tests- CAT (Creative Ability Test) and GAT (General Ability Test). Candidates seeking NIFT Patna admission on the various level of study, are required to fulfil NIFT eligibility.

The candidates are required to get certain marks in these tests in order to get NIFT admission in the fashion courses available in the institute. B.Des and B.F Tech candidates are required to get certain marks in the CAT while MFM and M.Des candidates are required to get a certain score in GAT.

For foreign candidates, the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is considered. These tests are followed by group discussions and personal interview round conducted by the institute.

• For admission in B.FTech and B. Des. course, the CAT score is considered.
• For admission in MFM and M. Des course, the GAT score is considered.
• For foreign candidates, admission in the B. Des course, candidates are required to fulfil a certain SAT score.
• For foreign candidates, admission in M. Des course requires a certain GRE score.
• For foreign candidates, admission in management course requires a certain GMAT score.

NIFT Patna Results and Cut-off

NIFT Patna announces its cutoff list after the results of the qualifying exams are out for the year. This NIFT cutoff list is the deciding factor for candidates seeking admission in different fashion courses. The candidates have to cross the cut-off mark in order to get entry into a particular fashion course.

The B. Des candidates have to cross the CAT (Creative Ability Test) cut-off mark while MFM and M.Des candidates have to cross the GAT (General Ability Test) cut-off mark. The examinations are taken all-India basis and the NIFT admit card for the exams can be downloaded from nift.ac.in.

The NIFT cut-off list is prepared on the basis of candidates appearing in the qualifying exam, their highest scores in the qualifying exam, difficulty level of the exam and number of seats available in the institute. The selection of the candidates depends on the marks scored in the qualifying exam and the group discussion and interview round score.

As mentioned before, NIFT Patna started operating from its transit campus, located in Udyog Bhavan, Gandhi Maidan. After six years, it has got its permanent campus. NIFT Patna address is Mithapur Farms, Patna - 800001, Bihar.

NIFT Patna has a beautiful campus with many facilities. The facilities provided by the Patna NIFT campus include spacious and well-equipped classrooms, auditorium, hygienic mess and canteen, sports ground, ATM, medical and transportation facilities, clean hostel rooms etc. All these facilities add up to make this campus a perfect place for students.

Besides these all facilities, the institute also provides NIFT Patna hostel for Girls only. Medical facilities, inhouse mess, Wi-Fi, gym, 24-hour security are also provided in the hostel. It is worth to be mentioned that a psychologist is also available within the campus twice in a week to counsel the students.
