Founded in the year 1995, by the Ministry of Textiles - Government of India, the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Gandhinagar is an institution of design, fashion technology and management situated at Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Spread over an area of five acres, the college is one of the 16 NIFT campuses present in the country and has a campus strength of 843.

• NIFT Gandhinagar offers a full-time four-year long Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme for a fee of INR 11.36 lakhs. Aspiring candidates need to clear their senior secondary exam from a recognised board or university with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as compulsory subjects. For international candidates, the required criteria is clearing the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Examination or International Baccalaureate (IB). • The college also provides a full-time Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech) degree in Apparel Production for a period of four years along with a fee of INR 11.36 lakhs. Willing candidates need to clear their senior secondary exam from a recognised board or university with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as compulsory subjects.
• NIFT Gandhinagar provides two-year-long full-time NIFT PG courses, Master of Fashion Management (MFM) programme for a fee of INR 4.54 lakhs. Candidates need to have an Undergraduate Diploma for a minimum of three years from NIFT or NID (National Institute of Design) or an Undergraduate degree from any recognised university to be eligible for this course.

NIFT Gandhinagar Admission Process

NIFT admission process is done in some steps. The steps include a qualifying exam, which is followed by a counselling method. The last step of the process is completed through a group discussion and personal interview round. Like every year, NIFT application form 2019 is also updated on the official website. NIFT 2019 application form can be downloaded from its admission portal. Candidates can also check the NIFT registration 2019 to know which documents are needed at the time of the admission. NIFT entrance exam 2019 took place in January and the application form was available from October in online mode.

• Bachelor of Design (B.Des) Admission - NIFT Admission is based on the performance of a candidate in his or her National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination or the CAT (Creative Ability Test) and GAT (General Ability Test) exams. Shortlisted candidates need to sit for another exam known as the Situation Test.
• Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech) Admission - Admission at this level is based on the performance of a candidate in the CAT (Creative Ability Test) or GAT (General Ability Test) exam. Shortlisted candidates may need to sit for another exam known as the Situation Test.
• Master of Design (M.Des) Admission - Admission is conducted on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidate in the General Ability Test - GAT exam followed by his or her performance in Group Discussion or Personal Interview (GDPI).

NIFT Gandhinagar Result and Cut-off

Aspiring candidates need to score above a specified percentile, which is decided by the college itself, in their entrance exams to get admitted into their desired streams. NIFT Gandhinagar cut off for the UG and PG Level is declared on the basis of the score obtained in the NIFT Entrance Exam.

NIFT Gandhinagar Scholarships

NIFT Gandhinagar provides scholarships and assistantships to its students to allow them to reach the truest of their potential without having to face financial or economic barriers. Some of these programmes are:

• Sarthak NIFT Financial Assistant Scheme: This programme is designed especially for those candidates who are meritorious and deserving but belong to economically weaker sections of the society or come from poor families.
• UDAAN NIFT Merit Scheme For Foreign Studies: This scheme provides financial assistance to students who want to pursue foreign education in the future.

The other scholarships at NIFT are mostly in the form of tuition fee exemptions. They are categorised as follows:

1) For undergraduate candidates

• A student is exempted from paying 75% of the tuition fee if his or her parental income is less than 1.0 lakh per annum.
• A student is exempted from paying 50% of the tuition fee if his or her parental income is between 1.0 and 2.5 lakhs per annum.
• A student is exempted from paying 25% of the tuition fee if his or her parental income is between 2.5 and 4.0 lakhs per annum.

2) For postgraduate candidates

• A student is exempted from paying 50% of the tuition fee if his or her parental income is less than 1.0 lakh per annum.
• A student is exempted from paying 25% of the tuition fee if his or her parental income is between 1.0 and 2.5 lakhs per annum.

NIFT Gandhinagar Campus Facility

Following are a few of the facilities available at the NIFT Gandhinagar campus.

• Library: The National Institute of Fashion Technology at Gandhinagar has a Resource Centre (RC), which includes a library wing and a material wing. The Library wing consists of books and journals regarding fashion, garments and technology. The Material Wing, on the other hand, is filled with costumes, textiles, accessories and findings. Each constituent of the material wing has a rich collection of its kind and thus helps the students by providing them with a hands-on learning experience of the details of the industry.

• Hostels: NIFT Gandhinagar offers NIFT Gandhinagar hostel accommodation to only female students (especially for the students of the first year). The rooms are available on a shared basis for two people and are provided with basic amenities like table, cupboard, chair and cots. The hostels contain a total of 200 beds and are stocked with useful provisions such as reading rooms, Wi-Fi connectivity, water purifier, mess, gym etc are some NIFT Gandhinagar Hostel Facility.

• Sports: NIFT Gandhinagar has an amphitheatre, Cricket Pitch, Volleyball Court, Basketball Court, Table Tennis Room, Badminton Court, Music Room and Dance room.

• Labs: The laboratories at NIFT Gandhinagar include a Computer Lab, Patternmaking and Draping Lab, Weaving Lab, Knitwear Lab, Garment Technology Lab, Accessory Design Lab and Leather Lab.
