Admission to the National Institute of Fashion Technology depends large on the cutoff. It is decided on the basis of availability of seats, last years NIFT result, the number of candidates appeared, etc. NIFT Bhopal is one of the most important centres in  Fashion Education, thus it always tries to maintain strict admission guidelines. Candidates who seek admission in the institute will have to secure the minimum cutoff. The admission is done on the basis of entrance examination conducted by NIFT, which comprise of Creative Ability Test in different stages and personal interview.

According to NIFT cutoff 2018, the closing rank was 1577 in the General category for B.Des in Accessory Design. For SC, the closing rank was 6089 and for OBC, it is 4225. Similarly, for Textile Design, NIFT cutoff closing rank was 1812 in the General category while the SC and ST class secured 5739 and 6911. For OBC, it is 4092.
