National Institute of Construction Management and Research, Pune has been constituted as a non-profit organisation with the objective of engaging in activities for the promotion of education, training, research, professionalism & skill formation at all levels of the construction and other allied industries. Besides that NICMAR’s objectives include undertaking special projects, collaboration with other organisations, dissemination of knowledge through seminars/conferences, etc.
Publishing literature, undertaking consultancy & taking necessary actions conducive to the fulfilment of the objectives of the Society. Under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR) Pune was registered as a Public Trust in 1982. The NICMAR Society was constituted in 1984 and registered under the Societies’ Registration Act, 1860. There is also Research Advisory Board & an Academic Advisory Council to provide advisory support in areas referred to these bodies. There is a well developed internal organisational structure with well defined roles and responsibilities for regular administration and management of the Institute

Research Work-
NICMAR Pune is very active in research and industrial problem-solving in many areas and is recognised as
“Scientific & Industrial Research Organization (SIRO)” by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology since 1990.
International Involvement-
NICMAR Pune received UNDP grant which enabled the Institute to involve eminent academics from MIT, USA; University of Michigan, USA; University of Loughborough, ILO, IIMA, other institutes in India & eminent practitioners from India in development of the first full-fledged curriculum for a two year postgraduate Programme in Advanced Construction Management in late eighties.
