Lucknow University was founded in 1867. The main campus of the university is situated in Badshah Bagh area. The emergence of this university has been possible due to Mohammad Ali Mohammad Khan’s concerned thoughts on education.
The college King Geore’s Medical College, Canning College and Isabella Thoburn Colleges serve the purpose of the foundations at that time and Sir Harcourt Buter’s Government extended a helping hand for university.
Many colleges are associated with the university. Now, law and management courses are studied in the new Campus with the rest of the courses being taught in the old campus. The new campus has 75 acres of land.
Many institutes come under the university that includes Institute of Women's Studies, Institute of Management Sciences, Institute for Wildlife Sciences, Human Consciousness and Yogic Sciences, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Institute etc.
Lucknow University has received the country rank 70 and world rank 3216. The university has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council with grade ‘B’.

Courses offered and Fee structure
The university offers many undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate courses. 36 courses are offered in several disciplines. These courses include B Tech, BSc, MSc, MSW, MPEd, LLM, BA, MPA, MTM, BVA, MHA, etc.
Undergraduate courses
Lucknow university courses in the undergraduate category offers B.A, B.Tech, BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration), BVA (Bachelor of Visual Arts), BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts), BCA, BEd etc. All these courses are offered in full-time options with duration of three to four years.
B.Tech course is offered in various disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering etc. BVA has specializations in Applied Arts, Painting and Sculptures.
BSc is offered in subjects like Geology, Botany, Genetics & Genomics, Anthropology, Astronomy, Physics etc. BBA includes subjects of Management Studies, International Business, Tourism etc.
B Tech lateral course is also available in the university and its course fee is Rs. 1.26 lakhs. BSc course fee is Rs. 40,676, BA (Hons.) course fee is Rs. 1.06 lakhs while BA fee is Rs. 19,876. B.Tech course fee is Rs. 4.86 lakhs, BBA course fee is Rs. 2.16 lakhs, BVA course fee is Rs. 37,80, BVoc. course fee is Rs. 25,000 and BFA course fee is Rs. 3.66 lakhs.
Postgraduate courses
The university offers many PG courses. These courses include MSc, MVA (Master of Visual Arts), MPA (Master of Public Administration), MTTM (Master of Tourism and Travel Management) , MEd, MCA, MSW (Master of Social Work), MHA (Masters in Hospital Administration), MCom, LLM (Master of Law), MLIBISC (Master of Library and Information Science) etc. All these courses are offered in full-time options with duration of one and two years.
MSc course is offered in disciplines like Biotechnology, Statistics, Forensic Sciences, Mass Communication, Food Processing Technology, Applied Geology etc. MA includes specializations like Criminology and Criminal Justice, Composite History, Anthropology, Mathematics etc.
Human Resources and International Relations, International Business, Finance and Control, Marketing etc. subjects are included in MBA course with fee of Rs. 3.3 lakhs. MPH course fee is Rs. 1.20 lakhs, MA fee is Rs. 16,480, MSc fee is between Rs.25,000 and 1.14 lakhs, MVA course fee is Rs. 75,320, MCom fee is Rs. 30,480 and for LLM course, it is Rs. 26,180.
Integrated, doctorate and diploma courses
The university also has some integrated courses in its curriculum. These include BA+LLB, BBA+MBA etc. BBA+MBA course fee is Rs. 3.66 lakhs and BA+LLB course fee is Rs. 2.76 lakhs. PG diploma fee is rs. 30,160.
Admission Process
All the applicants are admitted to the university courses on the basis of the marks scored in qualifying exams. Lucknow university admission qualifying exams include CAT, MAT, XAT, GATE etc. Candidates have to get a certain score on these exams in order to get entry to the particular course.
The exams contain MCQs based on logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, general awareness etc. Lucknow university admit card can be found on the Lucknow university official website.
- For admission in MBA course, CAT/MAT score is considered.
- For admission in M.Tech course, GATE score is considered.
- For admission in PhD course, qualifying exam score is considered.
Placements
Vice Chancellor Prof. S. P. Singh controls the placement cell of the university. It is always ensured by the university that every passed out student gets placed according to his interests and abilities. Career counselling takes place. Workshops are facilitated for skill development in students.
Students are given training to ace the interview and companies are invited to the campus. Internships and other job opportunities are offered to students by these reputed companies.
Results and Cut-off
Lucknow University unveils the cut-off list after declaration of the qualifying exam results. The cut-off list is prepared on the basis of the total number of appearing candidates, difficulty level of the exam, applicants’ marks in the exams and number of seats available for different courses in the university.
Candidates have to cross the cut-off mark set by the university for entry in a particular course. For example, M.Tech candidates have to cross the GATE cut-off score and MBA candidates have to cross the CAT cut-off score.
Alumni Network
The alumni cell of the university takes charge of maintaining cordial relations with the distinguished alumni members of the institute. Its focus remains on attracting maximum benefits for the university as well as its students.

Scholarships
Lucknow university scholarship schemes are given to the deserving students. Merit cum means is one of the scholarship schemes designed for the poor and meritorious students.
Special scholarships to the students with minority class, SC, ST and with physical or mental disabilities are also provided scholarships in different ways of financial aid, tuition fee waiver etc.
Campus Facilities
Students’ educational and recreational preferences are well taken care of in the university campus. With a 223 acres of land the campus has 13 hostels for boys and girls, well equipped classrooms, central computer center, sports area, residential area for teachers, guest room, cafeteria, hygienic canteen with variety of meals etc.
