JNU Admission Schedule 2018A tentative calendar of important dates regarding admission process is provided below:

JNU UG Admission:

The School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies is the only School of Study that provides a Bachelor’s degree in this University, i.e. B.A. (Hons). The course is offered in the following languages –  Japanese, Korean, Persian, Pashto, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Russian And Spanish.

The School also offers entry points to both first and second year of this programme. No viva voce examination is held for admission to B.A. (Hons.) first year, but the candidates for admission to B.A. (Hons.) second year are invited for the viva voce examination. To be eligible for viva voce examination, a candidate must secure the following marks out of 70 in the written exam for undergraduate courses (only where viva voce is prescribed):

  • General Category: 25% (17.50 marks out of 70)
  • OBC: 22.50% (15.75 marks out of 70)
  • SC/ST/PH: 15% (10.50 marks out of 70)

The final selection of candidates for admission to the undergraduate programs of study is made by inter merit of candidates in their respective categories, based on their performance in the written examination, in the viva voce (wherever prescribed), and after incorporating the Deprivation Points, wherever applicable. Candidate must secure the following minimum overall score in the entrance examination for admission to the undergraduate programs of study:

  • General Category: 30%
  • OBC: 27%
  • SC/ST/PH: 25%
COURSE ELIGIBILITY
B.A. (HONS.) (Entry point – 1st year) Senior School Certificate (+2) or equivalent examination with minimum 45% marks
B.A. (HONS.) (Entry point – 2nd year) First year of Bachelor’s degree or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with at least 45% marks (50% in the case of German) under the 10+2+3 pattern of education

JNU PG Admission:

Candidates for all Master’s degree courses, except M.A. in foreign languages (School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies), are invited for the viva voce examination.

To be eligible to be invited for the viva voce examination, a candidate must secure the following marks out of 70 in the written exam for PG courses.

  • General Category: 25%
  • OBC: 22.50%
  • SC/ST/PH: 15%

The final selection of candidates for admission to the post-graduate programs of study is made by merit of candidates in their respective categories, based on their performance in the written examination, in the viva voce (wherever prescribed), and after incorporating the Deprivation Points, wherever applicable.
Candidate must secure the following minimum overall score in the entrance examination for admission to the postgraduate programs of study:

  • General Category: 30%
  • OBC: 27%
  • SC/ST/PH: 25%

For every course in the School of Social Sciences (SSS) Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks (45% in the case of Geography and Sociology)
For every course in the School of Arts & Aesthetics (SAA) Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks
For every course in the Special Centre for Sanskrit Studies (CSS) Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks
M.Sc. For every course in the School of Life Sciences (SLS) Bachelor’s degree in allied subjects under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks
For every course in the School of Environmental Sciences (SES) B.Sc. degree or equivalent in any branch of basic or applied science OR B.E./B.Tech./MBBS with at least 55% marks
For every course in the School of Physical Sciences (SPS) Bachelor’s degree (with Physics as one of the subjects) under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks OR B.Tech.
For every course in the School of Biotechnology (SBT) Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary and Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering/Technology, 4-years B.Sc. (Physician Assistant Course) OR Medicine (MBBS) OR B.D.S. with at least 55% marks
M.C.A. For every course in the School of Computer & Systems Sciences (SCSS) Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks

JNU M.Phil/ PhD Admission:

The JNU provides research facilities (M.Phil./Ph.D., M.Tech./Ph.D., Pre-Ph.D./Ph.D., MPH/ PhD) in more than twenty different disciplines. Candidates seeking admission to M.Phil./Ph.D. courses are invited for the viva voce examination.

To be eligible to be invited for the viva voce examination, a candidate must secure the following marks out of 70 in the written exam for doctoral courses:

  • General Category: 35%
  • OBC: 31.50%
  • SC/ST/PH: 25%

The final selection of candidates for admission to the doctoral courses of study is made on the basis merit of candidates in their respective categories, based on their performance in the written examination,
in the viva voce (wherever prescribed), and after incorporating the Deprivation Points, wherever applicable.No candidate is eligible for admission to the doctoral programs of study unless he/she secures the following minimum overall score:

  • General Category: 40%
  • OBC: 36%
  • SC/ST/PH: 30%

Many research scholars are the recipient of fellowship/scholarship from having qualified their UGC-NET examination. Some of the students are awarded State Govt. Scholarship, sponsored fellowships, and merit-cum-means scholarships.

The University also admits a limited number of candidates to M.Phil./Ph.D. and Pre-Ph.D. programs, who have qualified a national test entitling them to a Junior Research Fellowship in Science Schools, without appearing in the Entrance Examination.

Only those candidates who have scored at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree and have qualified a national level test entitling them to a Junior Research Fellowship are eligible for admission. The candidates are selected on the basis of viva-voce examination only and no entrance examination is prescribed by the University.

JNU Integrated PG Admission:

Candidates seeking admission to integrated PG courses are invited for the viva voce examination.

To be eligible to be invited for the viva voce exam, a candidate must secure the following marks out of 70 in the written test for integrated courses:

  • General Category: 35%
  • OBC: 31.50%
  • SC/ST/PH: 25%

The final selection of candidates for admission to the integrated courses of study is made by merit of candidates in their respective categories, based on their performance in the written exam.

  • General Category: 40%
  • OBC: 36%
  • SC/ST/PH: 30%
