Scholarships at IIT Patna
For both UG and PG students, IIT Patna offers Merit Cum Means Scholarships and other various scholarships under Central Scheme Scholarships to help them financially and meet their academic expenses. The following are some of the scholarships available at the institute.
Merit Cum Means Scholarship:
- MCM scholarships are available to meritorious and needy students enrolled in the UG programme or the 2-year M.Sc programme at IIT Patna.
- A student must have a minimum SPI/CPI of 6.50 and an annual family income of INR 4.5 lakhs to be eligible for the MCM Scholarship.
- MCM Scholarship recipients receive INR 1000 per month for two semesters as well as free tuition.
Top-tier Education Program for SC Students:
- The Scholarship is specifically designed to promote quality education among SC students by providing financial assistance.
- At IIT Patna, a total of 12 scholarships are available to SC students with annual family incomes of less than INR 6 lakhs.
- Students who receive a SC Scholarship Scheme award are exempt from paying full tuition fees. The following are some additional advantages:
- Books and stationery cost INR 3000 per year.
- To cover living expenses, INR 2200 per month is required.
- INR 45,000 for the most recent computer/laptop.
Scholarship Program for College and University Students in the Central Sector
- The scholarship is funded by the MHRD, Department of Higher Education, and is open to undergraduate students.
- To be eligible for the Central Sector Scheme, students must have scored above the 80th percentile in 10+2 and have a parental income of INR 8 lakhs.

RPF (Railway Protection Force)/RPSF (Railway Protection Special Force) Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme:

- Students with a minimum of 50% in their 12th standard or previous final examinations and an annual family income of less than INR 2.5 lakhs are eligible for this Scholarship Scheme.
- For 10 consecutive months in an academic year, students receive full tuition fee reimbursement as well as a maintenance allowance of INR 1000.
- Students enrolled in any technical and professional programme at the UG or PG level at IIT Patna are eligible for the scholarship.
Scholarships for Exceptional Education for Disabled Students:
- The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities funds the Scholarship for Top Class Education for Students with Disabilities, which is offered to financially assist students with disabilities.
- This scholarship is open to SwDs with a minimum of 40% or higher and a parental annual income of INR 6 lakhs or less.
- Students who receive a Scholarship award are awarded with the refurbishment of tuition fees up to INR 2 LPA.
- Students are also given a monthly maintenance allowance of INR 3000, a monthly special allowance of INR 2000, reimbursement for the purchase of a computer worth INR 30,000, and reimbursement for the purchase of Aids and assistive devices worth INR 30,000.
