IISc Bangalore Scholarship
IISc Bangalore offers scholarships to students based on their performance in the qualifying examination. All students are eligible for scholarships or fellowships from the time of enrollment, except for MBA and MSc students.
Institute-Funded Scholarships (Monthly Stipends)

Performance-Based / Industry-Funded Fellowships

Additional fellowships and top-up amounts are available for high-performing students or those selected under specific categories.

Examples include fellowships sponsored by private companies such as Google, Microsoft Research, Shell, and Wipro.

Women-specific scholarships like Wells Fargo Women M.Tech. Fellowship and other merit awards may be available.
Undergraduate and Merit Scholarships

B.Sc. (Research) students may also qualify for external fellowships like KVPY and INSPIRE, which offer higher stipends (₹5,000–7,000 per month) and annual contingency grants.

Conference travel and project funding may be available for meritorious undergraduates.

External Government and Private Scholarships

Students can also apply for fellowships from government agencies such as DST, DBT, CSIR, UGC, AICTE, and ICMR.

Corporate and charitable trusts like Tata Trusts, Aditya Birla Foundation, and ONGC also offer scholarships for IISc students.

PMRF (Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship) is available for exceptional PhD candidates with significantly higher fellowship amounts.
Duration and Conditions

Scholarships are awarded for the standard duration of the program (2 years for PG, 5 years for PhD).

Students must complete the course to retain the full scholarship; discontinuation may require repayment.

Scholarships are not available to students receiving salary or industrial sponsorship.
Activation Procedure

Scholarships are activated from the date of joining.

Eligible students must submit a joining report to the funding agency through the institute.

Monthly payments are credited through the institute’s payroll system.
