IIM Visakhapatnam MBA Eligibility & Selection Criteria

IIM Visakhapatnam employs multiple parameters to evaluate candidates for the MBA program, including:

1. Academic Performance in 10th, 12th, and Bachelor’s Degree Examinations
2. CAT Entrance Examination Scores
3. Relevant Work Experience (if applicable)
4. Overall Performance in the Personal Interview

The selection process at IIM Visakhapatnam consists of three phases, as follows:

Phase 1:

Candidates who have taken the CAT 2023 and selected IIM Visakhapatnam as one of their preferences in the CAT application form will be considered. They must achieve a minimum Section-wise and Aggregate Percentile in CAT 2023. The expected CAT cutoff scores for IIM Visakhapatnam course admissions for MBA are as follows:

Phase 2:

Candidates are shortlisted for the Personal Interview based on their academic scores, diversity, work experience, and CAT scores. The respective weightage for these factors is as follows:

50 Points for CAT are derived from three sections

• Verbal & Reading Comprehension (VARC) – 18 points
• Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR) – 14 points
• Quantitative Aptitude (QA) – 18 points

Phase 3:

Candidates who have been shortlisted in Phase 2 are obligated to attend a Personal Interview. However, candidates who have already been interviewed at any of the IIMs in Bangalore, Calcutta, Kozhikode, Lucknow, and Indore (only for PGP/PGPM programs) will not need to participate in a Personal Interview at IIM Visakhapatnam.

Candidates who have NOT been shortlisted and interviewed by any of the aforementioned IIMs (Bangalore, Calcutta, Kozhikode, Lucknow, and Indore for PGP/PGPM programs) will be required to appear for a Personal Interview at IIM Visakhapatnam.

To apply for the MBA program at IIM Visakhapatnam, candidates should follow these steps:

1. Register for the CAT exam on the official website at www.iimcat.ac.in and complete the online application form.

2. Provide all the necessary personal, academic, and professional information and upload the required documents.

3. Within the same form, candidates can also apply for IIM Visakhapatnam’s PGP program by selecting it as one of their preferences.

4. Choose a preferred test center for taking the CAT exam.

5. Once all information is entered, submit the application form and make the necessary payment for the application fee.
