IIT Guwahati Scholarship

Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati provides various scholarships to the students, who are deserving and meritorious. The institute believes that economic hindrance in academic life can be avoided. The financial aids provided by the institute help the students lessen their financial burden and focus more on studies.

National Scholarship Portal, which is a platform where any student whose family’s annual income is less than 2.5 LPA can apply for the scholarship. Merit-cum-means scholarship, SC/ST scholarship, Institute Merit Scholarship (IMS), etc. are some of the scholarship schemes functioned by the institute. 

Institute Merit Scholarship (IMS)

This scholarship is given to the branch toppers years. This scholarship includes tuition fee waiver and stipends for eight months.

Institute Merit-cum-Means Scholarships (McM)

This MCM scholarship is given on the basis of merit. This is given to 25% of the non-SC/ST students. It includes a tuition fee waiver and a fixed stipend every month for a span of eight months.

SC/ ST Scholarship

As the name suggests this scholarship is given to only the SC or ST candidates. This scholarship covers a fixed monthly stipend for eight months, free messing (only for the basic menu) and hostel seat rent waiver. Tuition fee is waived for all SC or ST students.

The institute also allows the students to avail outer Govt. and non-Govt. schemes such as Govt. scholarships, scholarships from private trusts and central sector scholarship schemes etc. 

Assistantship

Assistantships are given to all regular students (as defined by the ordinances on these programs) in M.Tech, and PhD programs as per norms laid down by the IIT council or MHRD Govt. of India.
