The Department of Commerce functions under the Delhi School of Economics, an academic unit of the University of Delhi. The D-School of Economics or DSE was set up in 1948 with four different departments including that of Commerce.

Eligibility Criteria
Indian Candidates:
- Passed bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% aggregate. Relaxation for reserved category students is as per university rules.
- Candidates in the final year of study are also eligible to apply. But they will be permanently admitted after they submit their final mark sheets.
International Candidates
- The candidates must have passed the 10+2+3 education level with 50% or equivalent CGPA score.

Entrance Exam Pattern
The DU Entrance or DUET is 2 hours long carrying 400 marks in total. Each of the Four units carry equal weights.
- The syllabus for the entrance is based on the B.Com (H) course offered at University of Delhi.
- Each question carries 4 marks and 1 mark deduction for each wrong answer.
- There is a written test which will test 100 MCQs and 25 questions from the following areas:
- Economics (Micro Economics, Macro Economics, Problems of Indian Economy)
- Accounting (including Financial Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Cost Accounting, and Management Accounting)
- Business Statistics and Mathematics
- Business Organization, Management, Business Law, Company Law and Income Tax Law

Merit Based Admission:
The eligibility criteria is as follows:
- Applicants must have completed master’s or M.Phil with 55% aggregate.
- Teachers of Delhi University are also eligible to apply.
- Applicants qualified for CSIR / UGC-NET / JRF, DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, DST-INSPIRE are exempted from appearing for the department entrance exam.
- These candidates can directly appear for the interview.
- Candidates awaiting their results in these entrances can also apply.

Entrance Based Admission:
