Bharathiar University address is situated in Coimbatore which is also known as Kovai, Tamil Nadu. This university was named after the famous Tamil poet Subhramania Bharathiar. This state university was built during February 1982.
Bharathiar University was established under the provision of the Bharathiar University Act in 1981. Though during 1985, this university got recognized by UGC (University Grant Commission).
Bharathiar University has a total number of 104 affiliated college. Among these colleges, 11 are government, five of them are constituent colleges, 16 colleges are aided, and the rest of them are self-financing colleges.
The entire university is spread across a large area, and there are multiple numbers of facilities for the students and the working staff. Bharathiar University offers a common computer centre. This common computing centre was established in 2012 in the middle of the Academic Campus, and the centre occupies an area of 2500 sq ft. The computing centre works as the central faculty concerning computer-related services.
Bharathiar University hostels consist of four building presently on their campus. One of them is reserved for the ladies (only for research scholars) and students of postgraduate courses and a men’s hostel for the researchers.

The university has an extension service of Bank of India just near the Administrative building. This bank provides service from 10 am to 4 pm on working days (Monday to Friday). All the students under the regular and distance education medium can pay their fees on the bank extension.
There is also a post office located near the administrative building. The Bharathiar University has two functional canteens which provide snacks, vegetarian and nonvegetarian food to the students and other staff.
Bharathiar university established its Library in 1981, currently offers a seating capacity of 300 people. The Bharathiar University library remains open from 8 am to 8 pm (study and reference purposes) on working days.
