Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT), Coimbatore Overview

The Bannari Institute of Technology, an autonomous institution, which was established in the year 1996, affiliated to Anna University, by the Bannari Amman Service Group. It falls under the patronage of one of the largest Industrial Conglomerates in South India, Bannari Amman Group (BAG). It is located in Sathyamangalam, Erodes district of Tamil Nadu, India. 

Bannari Amman Institute of Technology Coimbatore offers 12 courses in the Engineering department, seven courses in the technology department and various other courses in Management Studies, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Humanities and P.E. It offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering, Technology and Management Studies. 

Bannari Amman Institute of Technology ranking is fourth among top Engineering colleges of super excellence. State-wise it has been ranked sixth and it is also one of the Top 100 Best Engineering Colleges in India by NIRF 2019, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. The institute had earned the best Engineering College Award from the Indian Society for Technical Education in the year 2009. It is ISO 9001:2000 certified on the basis of its quality education, and most of the eligible courses available there are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi and NAAC with "A" Grade.

At present, there are 54 faculty members at the BAIT. The faculty members include six professors and others are assistant professors at different levels. All the faculty members of BAIT are achievers in their respective fields. They have years of practical experience which comes in handy while guiding the new bright scholars at the Institute.

There are multiple and diverse undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses offered in BIT. Postgraduate courses which are offered include Masters in Engineering Design, Instrumentation Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Application among other things. PhD courses include Biotechnology and Management studies include MBA The institute offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the all-round development of a scholar. BIT Coimbatore Admission Process

Bannari Amman Institute of Technology admission process is conducted through Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) ranking based on the Higher Secondary results facilitated by Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE). The admissions of ME/M.Tech is based on ranking in TANCET examination which is conducted by Anna University.

• Unified Single Window Admission System is used for admission to BE/B.Tech.
• Reservation is presented to the candidates who belong to SC/ST/OBC/SCA/Most Backward Class & DNC/Backward Muslim categories, according to the rules and policies of Anna University.
• For the native candidates of Tamil Nadu, communal reservation is provided.

The college follows the Anna University rules and regulations in regards to its admissions, results and cut off. Admission to BE/B. Tech courses depend upon the applicants’ TNEA score. Bannari Amman Institute of Technology cut off is declared after TNEA results are announced.

BIT Coimbatore Scholarships

BIT offers scholarships in the engineering courses to support scholars performing well. This scholarship will be given on the marks obtained by the students in Higher Secondary. The scholarships will be given to the students in the provision that the applicant clears all subjects each subsequent year in the previous years.

Criteria for a scholarship for BIT:

• Minimum percentage of 55% in the qualifying examination must be gained by the general and OBC students. 
• A minimum of 50% marks must be garnered by the SC/ST students. 
• For post-matric scholarship,  the annual income from all sources must be below Rs. 1,08,000.
• For minority scholarship, the annual income from all the sources must be below Rs. 2,00,000.
• or admission in professional courses on the basis of competitive exams, students can apply for a scholarship.

The institute is well arranged with lecture halls, academic blocks, five-storeyed library, laboratories, lecture halls, conference halls, four hostels for male students and five hostels for female students, a fully air-conditioned auditorium and town hall, staff quarters and common area for students.
