SOFT CORE COURSES IN I AND II SEMESTERS
Any two soft core courses from the available Soft Cores shall be selected by a student at the commencement of I and II Semesters. The Department Council/ Affiliated College will announce at the beginning of the first and second semesters, any two or more soft core papers which will be offered during I and II semesters depending upon the availability of faculty and the demand for soft core courses. The minimum number of students opting for a soft core course should be ten.
ELECTIVE GROUPS
Any one group from the available Soft Core Groups shall be selected by a student at the commencement of III Semester. Once a group has been selected, no change in the selected group will be allowed later in the fourth semester. The Department/ Affiliated College will announce at the end of the second semester, any one or more Soft Core Groups which will be offered during III and IV semesters depending upon the availability of faculty members and the demand for soft core group. A Soft Core Group can be offered if there are minimum ten students opting for that group.
PROJECT WORK
A student in the third semester shall register for a Project Work which carries 4 credits in the fourth semester. Work load for Project Work is one contact hour per student per week for the teacher. The student shall do field work and library work in the remaining 3 credit hours per week.
ADMISSIONS AND OTHER DETAILS
Total Intake: – 180 students

Eligibility: Candidates are required to have a bachelor’s degree of a recognized University in any discipline with minimum aggregate of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST and category I candidates). Those students whose degrees are considered equivalent by the Mangalore University shall be eligible for admission to MBA, subject to the rules of selection procedure for admission to MBA. Weightage is given to candidates who have work experience in industry/business/armed forces/government, at a supervisory level and those who are sponsored by industry/business houses or family owned business, subject to their qualifying in the test and being called for group discussion and interview. Weightage is also given to additional professional qualifications in chartered accountancy, cost accounting and company secretary ship. Students appearing for final degree examination in the previous year are also eligible to apply, provided the results are made available by the end of July, in the admission year.
Duration: The programme shall extend over a period of 4 semesters of 14 weeks each, including period of preparation and examination.
Fees Structure:
1. Management quota: Rs. 3,00,000/- for 2 years.
2. Government quota : Tuition Fees + Rs 60,000 Per Annum.
Attendance:
A student shall be considered to have satisfied the requirements of the semester, if he/she attends not less than 75% of the classes.
Scheme of Examination:
1. There shall be a University examination at the end of each semester.
2. In each theory paper 30% marks shall be for internal evaluation and 70% for semester examination. There shall not be any sessional mark for project.
3. The sessional marks shall be awarded on the basis of assignments, tests, presentations, viva-voce, field work, attendance etc. There shall be at least 2 sessional in each theory paper.
4. A candidate shall be considered to have passed if he/she obtains 35% in theory and 40% in aggregate of both sessional and University marks put together and 50% in aggregate in all the subjects in each semester.
Carry over Provisions:
Candidate who fails in a lower semester examinations may go to the higher semester and take the examinations.
Application:
Those who are interested in joining the programme may apply for the programme bulletin and the application form by paying in cash/DD Rs.500/- (Rs.550/- by post) payable to A.J. Institute of Management, Mangalore. Application may also be downloaded from the website.
Selection Procedure
For Government Quota through KEA scores and for Management Quota: K-MAT/ MAT/CAT/C-MAT test scores. Selected candidates must pay the first installment of fees on or before the stipulated date. Those who do not pay the term fees by that date will forfeit seats and the same will be offered to those who are wait listed.

The Institute reserves the right to make any changes in the class schedule, fee structure or any other matter concerning the programme. Fees once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
Anti Ragging Warning
Any Students found guilty of indulging in any incident would lead to expelling the student from the institution and will be handed over to the police for judicial action.
