National Institute of Technology, Surat
Sardar
Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering & Technology (SVREC), Surat was
established in 1961 as one of the RECs for imparting technical education in
Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. It was converted into Sardar Vallabhbhai
National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat with the status of “Deemed University”
on 4th December 2002.
SVNIT
is situated on Athwa-Dumas Road, Surat. The campus is opposite to the
Ichchhanath Temple, Piplod. The campus is spread over 250 hectares of lush
green forest. The campus is around 10 km from the Surat Railway station.
State
Bank of India has a regular branch and an ATM on the campus Canara Bank has an
ATM. The Health Centre is a full-fledged OPD unit managed by one full time
Residential Doctor and many visiting specialists. There is a post office on
campus. SVNIT has ten hostels with nine for boys and one dedicated to girls. Two
mega hostels for boys and one mega hostel for girls with large number of facilities
have been recently constructed. Wi-Fi facility is extended to all the hostels
and the entire campus is connected via Gigabit LAN.

At
present, the Institute is offering Six UG Programmes, Eighteen PG Programmes
and Three M.Sc.
Five
Years Integrated Programmes. Doctoral programme in all above branches are also
offered.

Life beyond the classroom
MindBend is the
technical festival and Autumnfest is
the automotive festival. IGNIS (all
India inter engineering college sports festival) attract participants from all
over the country and abroad.
Sparsh is SVNIT’s annual cultural
festival. It usually takes place in the second week of February and lasts for
five days.
Placement History
Placements
at SVNIT have been consistently excellent. More than 415 graduates were placed
