Only 72 seats in the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are available for the second round of counselling. The list for this round shall be declared at 5 p.m. on July 6, 2016. Students who had opted for ‘float’ or ‘slide’, the new option will also be allocated in this round.
If a student has accepted a seat of
an IIT in the previous round, and if the seat is upgraded to ISM Dhanbad or any
other IIT, then the student doesn’t have to report to a Reporting Centre (RC)
again. It is similar for an upgraded NIT seat as well.
If, however, a student has accepted
a seat in an NIT in the previous round and the seat is now upgraded to an IIT,
then they will have to report at an RC of IITs and accept the seat. Students
who fail to do so will lose both seats.
JoSAA has declared that there will
be no spot-rounds this year.
