Within two days of the first round seat allotment process by the
Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) all seats at Indian Institutes of
Technology (IITs) and Indian School of Mines (ISM) have been filled. However,
according to the official JoSAA website, there are 78 seats
vacant in NITs.
Prof KV Krishna, Chairman, JEE Advanced 2016 Unit, told PaGaLGuY, “We
filled all the seats at the IITs, and ISM in round one itself. Now, students
who don’t turn up at any reporting centre for the verification process for
their allocated seats in the next four days will be out from the
subsequent seat allotment rounds. Those seats will remain vacant which we will
allocate in round two.”
The vacant seats at National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are listed
below:
10 seats at NIT Jalandhar
9 seats at NIT Calicut
24 seats at NIT Nagaland
12 seats at NIT Sikkim
23 seats at NIT Mizoram
Students allocated a seat in the first round have to report to any of
the given reporting centres in the respective seat acceptance period. If they
fail to do so, they will out of the seat allocation process.
