Central Board of Secondary Education, on December 22, has announced to provide option of changing examination city for JEE Mains 2017. The announcement has come as a relief to JEE Mains 2017 aspirants in Kota, as they could not choose Kota as their city for examination due to unavailability of the city in the list at the first place.
Kota was initially given a miss in the list of exam cities for JEE Mains 2017 when the online application forms were released on November 30. Left with no other options, many JEE aspirants in Kota had to select other cities as their choice of exam city for JEE Mains.
But as pressure mounted from students and pursuance of the Member of Parliament from Kota, Om Birla, CBSE included Kota in the list of JEE Mains 2017 conducting exam city list on December 6. Aspirants filling up the form after December 6 were able to choose Kota as exam city.
However, no guidelines were issued for such aspirants who had filed online JEE Mains forms between November 30 and December 6, creating an air of confusion for them.
The clarification came in light through one of the answers in the FAQ section on JEE Mains website later in the evening on December 22. In an answer on the frequently asked questions list, CBSE has notified that aspirants can modify the city of examination during the facility of correction in January 2017.
Amit Ahuja, Academic Counsellor at Allen Career Institute, Kota said that the decision is being seen as a major relief for aspirants in Kota, who wanted to take the examination from the city itself. “Although number of such aspirants in Kota cannot be claimed but certainly there will be many such aspirants in the coaching capital city”, said Amit.
Rajasthan has test centres in 6 cities for JEE Mains 2017 including Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Bikaner and Kota.
