As per a notice by the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main authorities, aadhaar card is mandatory to apply for JEE Main 2017. While filling the application form, aadhaar details will be validated by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), in case there is a mismatch, candidates will not be able to register for JEE Main 2017.
The details that will be validated while registering are aadhaar number, name, date of birth, and gender. These details should match with the class 10, and 12 marksheets as well.
To make the required corrections in the aadhaar card, candidates can either send the update request through post or online. But they are advised to do it online, rather than by post. A UIDAI representative explains, “If the update request is made online, it will take anywhere between 15 to 20 days, whereas if done by post, it can take anywhere between 15 days to two months. To place an online update request, one should know the registered mobile number.”
The representative added, “If the mobile number is not registered, it is better to visit an enrolment centre, and get it updated in a day.” Since the registration process for JEE Main ends on January 2, 2017, aspirants do not have enough time to update aadhaar card details through post.
