Sol:- Efficiency of a:c = 2:3 so the number of days taken for work to be done will be in ratio 3:2.
Number of days taken :-
b:c = 2:3
b = 2k
c= 3k
a = c - 6 = 3k - 6
3k/(3k-6) = 5/3
9k = 15k - 30
6k = 30 => k = 5
a = 9 days
b = 10 days
c = 15 days
Now b and c works for 2 days = 2(1/10+1/15) = 2/6 = 1/3
1/9* x = 2/3
x = 2/3 * 9 = 6 days
So A takes 6 days to complete the remaining work.

30 workers can finish a work in 20 days.after how many days should 9 workers leave the job so that the work is completed in total 26 days?

niksnayyar Says
30 workers can finish a work in 20 days.after how many days should 9 workers leave the job so that the work is completed in total 26 days?

Sol :-
Let the total amount of work be = 30 * 20 = 600
Now according to the given condition we form an equation
30*x + 21(26-x) = 600
30x + 446 - 21x = 600
9x = 54
x = 54/9 = 6
So after 6 days , 9 workers leave the job.

Sol :- Let us say there are 60 Oranges. Cost of each Orange becomes 1.
Now 40% of them got rotten which means 24 are rotten.
So he can sell only 36 Oranges. But he must get an over all profit of 20% which is 60+20% of 60 = 72.
So Selling price of each orange = 72/36 = 2
Cost price originally was 1.
So percentage of cost at which he must sell = 2/1 * 100 = 200 %
So Option B.

Buddy how did u arrive at

So percentage of cost at which he must sell = 2/1 * 100 = 200 % ?

Buddy how did u arrive at

So percentage of cost at which he must sell = 2/1 * 100 = 200 % ?

He has to sell each Orange at 2 rupee to get an overall profit of 20%.
Now how much percent is this Selling price of each orange when compared to the cost price of each orange...?? It is
2/1 * 100 = 200%

By selling an article for a discount of 25%, a shopkeeper gets Rs16 less as profit than by selling it
at 16 2/3% discount. If the cost of 12 articles is equal to the marked price of 8 articles, then find the cost price of each article.

Sol :- Let C.P of each article be 'x'.
Given C.P of 12 articles = M.P of 8 articles
12x = M.P of 8 articles
M.P of each article = 12x/8 = 3x/2

C.P = x
M.P = 3x/2
S.P = Discount of 25% on M.P = 3/4 * 3x/2 = 9x/8 ( 25% = 1/4. so if we remove 1/4 from 1 it becomes 3/4 )
Profit = S.P - C.P = 9x/8 - x = x/8

C.P = x
M.P = 3x/2
S.P = Discount of 16 2/3% on M.P = 5/6 * 3x/2 = 5x/4 ( 16 2/3% = 1/6. so if we remove 1/6 from 1 it becomes 5/6 )
Profit = S.P - C.P = 5x/4 - x = x/4
Now it is given that by selling an article for a discount of 25%, a shopkeeper gets Rs16 less as profit than by selling itat 16 2/3% discount.
x/8 + 16 = x/4
( x+128 )/8 = x/4
2x - x = 128
x = 128
So Option C.

Hello fellow CAT chasers!
I had a query....today i was taught that the co-primes less than 10 are - ( 1, 4, 7, 9). Now what i dont understand is why are only these four considerd as co-primes . why not 2, 3, and 5?

Puys can anyone please explain me the value of power ..especially in last digit questions..For ex we are given a number 55557^987654 how to find the last digit?????

I can understand that for last digit which is unit digit we need to divide the no. by 10..And in this case we 7 as a remainder but what is the next step?

Sorry Puys for being late in solving Questions related to numbers. The thing is i am very weak in this topic and i have to start with the basics. I will do it as soon as possible....!!!!!

Thats ok @HydRocker.....I have completed the theory part number theory and presently doing LOD1.....

Here is the solution....

To find the last digit or the unit digit we have to divide the no. by 10..
55557/10= 7^987654

Now all we need to do is follow the value of power (4n +2) and the answer is 9.

my take
option c 128

To find the last digit of numbers, here is a small method.

Dividing it into small parts

Last two digits of numbers ending in 1

let the number be 6576521 ^ 7628736 and we need to find the last two disits.
Defintiely a number ending in one will have last digit as one so the units digit will be equal to 1.

For the tens digit, since we are concerned with the last two digits of the number, consider only the last two numbers and leave the rest as they will not contribute to the last 2 places.

So here just take the number 21 ^7628736
Units will be 1 for sure.

For tens, take the 2 from number 21 and multiply it with the units digit of power ie 6 here which comes to be 12. The units place if this result shall be the tens digit of our final answer.

similarly for 71 ^ 56747

units is 1
tens is 71 * 56747 = 7*7 = 49 so 9 will be the tens.
hence the last two digits will be 91

Hope this helps.
