I have been working in the Energy sector in India for the past 3 years.
I am planning to apply for Winter 2014/Fall 2014 for the Schulich MBA. I have the following questions and would appreciate your suggestions:
1. Post MBA, I want to work for a clean tech. company or a consultancy firm with focus on renewable energy. Taking this into a/c which course would be most beneficial in terms of placements of international students: MBA in India or the traditional one.
2. Regarding the Indian MBA, what % of internships of the previous batches have been secured in Canadian firms ?
3. What are the core differences b/w the Fall and Winter courses? Which one is generally preferred and ideal for international students?
4. What are the deadlines for the Winter 2014 application? I am asking this question since this info hasn't been updated on the Schulich website yet.
@soumilgarg Hello Saumil, this is not true. All applicants that are shortlisted by the Admissions Committee are interviewed before the Admission offer is made.
@Schulich_MBA Hi, I wanted to ask, are the applications still open for the fall intake for MBA in India and can I apply for the Jan batch for the same course, as I tried logging on into the application but it does not accept Jan, by MBA in India I mean 1 year in India and 1 in Canada. It would be quite helpful if you could answer this query.
@sansd Hello, you can apply for the India program on the Schulich website. There is no January option because this year we are going to start the program in September instead of January.
Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any further queries.
@rahul43.k Hello Rahul, over the last 3 years the students from the India batches have been outperforming the students starting in Toronto. I guess this is because of the individual attention and focused programs run by the Career Development Center. Since the start of the program, our placement rate has been about 95%. The reason we don't have specific data on the India class is because the students starting in India and Toronto all graduate together as one cohort, and so our Graduate Placement Survey is conducted with the cohort as a whole.
Nevertheless, Minoo Bhutani, Director of the CDC will have some data he can share with you as he works closely with the students from the India cohort throughout the program.
It will be nice if you can address three queries of mine.
1) What is the total cost (with estimated food, exchange, internships and living expense coming out to be)?
2) Are the students from Schulich India program given an opportunity to attend campus placements with Canada Students and why would people opt for Schulich India over schulich Canada (Is it solely because of low cost of the course - 20,000$)
3) The deferment policy of the institute and the whether any scholarships received can also be deferred.
In india, the education loan students are eligible for is: CATEGORY1: upto 10 lac : For domestic Education CATEGORY2: upto 20 lac: For overseas Education I would like to know that considering that if one students opts for MBA@Schulich, India, then the education loan will fall in which of the above categories.
and are we eligible to apply for any kind of university grants/scholarship post opting for Schulich MBA@i program.
Hello Rahul, The degree awarded to you is a Canadian degree, so you would opt for the Category 2 loan. We will be providing students in the India program a fellowship of $10,000 in Year 1 and $10,000 in Year 2 provided they are in good academic standing.
Hi! I graduated with a B.Tech last May (2012) and have been working full-time since June 2012. Will I be eligible to apply for the 2014 intake? Or should I have a minimum of 2 years even before I apply?

You need to have a minimum of 2 years of work experience by the time your course commences. I hope this helps.
