we can find sum of ages of john and peter by this forumla avg= sum/numbers. then satement 2 alone is sufficient to answer right?

Here’s the explanation to the first question of quiz 24:
letting the prices of pens, pencils and eraser be x,y and z respectively
So,
2x+5y+7z = 37 – eqn (i)
7x+2y+z = 49 – eqn (ii)
Multiplying eqn (ii) by 7 throughout, we get
49x+14y+7z=343 – eqn(iii)
Subtracting eqn(i) from eqn(iii), we get
47x+9y = 306 i.e the price of 47 pens and 9 erasers
hello tqs for the solution i wanted to ask suppose instead of z in eq 2 we had 3z then we would do eq 13 eq 27 right and if we wouldnot get the required quantity directly as mentioned in ques as we got in this case what would be the sol then?
