Hi,
The students who have converted and paid the fees but not yet added in the official Whatsapp group, please DM on 8826464878 with your name and fee receipt.
I made mistake while entering graduation percentage. I scored 7 CGPA. But i wasn't aware about conversion formula. So i mentioned 70% ( 7 * 10 ).
But recently i found there is conversion formula. As per which it becomes 65%.
What should i do ? Will there be any issue. It's genuine mistake.
Will next list be coming today or when ???? Adcomm

My brother is alumnus of Department of Financial Studies. I am also an student studing in one of the tier 1 B schools. I have seen people comparing IIMs, NMIMS, SIBM P, IMI, IMT G with DFS. So I wish to share some insights on the advantages and disadvantages (compared to Ivy league and Tier 1 B schools).
DFS is a good B school for those who are looking for the following:
1. Good ROI (and no education loan :-D )
2. Chill out and Relaxed MBA (however atmosphere is fast changing in the campus I believe)
3. Decent Finance Profiles and placements
4. Better Peer to peer interaction due to low batch size (its a downside too. Will cover that later) You will know everyone in the college
5. Want to prepare for exams such as UPSC, RBI and SEBI. I know many of the seniors and alumni who are in SEBI.
6. Lot of time for CFA and FRM exams. DFS has probably one of the highest (CFA cleared*/ No of students) ratio. *cleared atleast one level
Not for those who are looking for the following:
1. Tight and challenging curriculam
2. Exposure to other domains such as Marketing and Strategy
3. Core Investment banking roles (however sorry to say core IB roles dnt go beyond BLACKI and few Ivy league B schools)
4. Great Brand Image. DFS still has a long way to go to match the IIM brand image. DFS has good brand image in companies with good alumni presence such as EY, ICRA, Care, SBI Caps, Acuity, Credit Sussie, Axis Bank. But once we go beyond them and try to apply to say boutique firms or other Big 4s or MNCs, DFS wnt be enjoying the good brand image its enjoys with the previously mentioned companies. Its your previous work experience that speaks. Same is not the case for IIMs. Any random MNC knows the "IIM" tag (not that it helps everytime)
5. Great Alumni Network. Alumni strength is low. Thats one of the downsides. But it cant be helped due to the low batch strength
Now comparing with Ivy league B schools like IIM A, B, C, L, K, I, S; MDI, SPJAIN, FMS, XLRI, IIT B SJSOM is out of question
I would personally rate IIM Ranchi and IIM Tirchy over DFS. I know few people in these institutes also end up getting bad profiles. But thats the case with every B school. In the long run these two B schools wil grow better brand wise and placements wise
NMIMS has kind of detoriated over the years due to its high batch size. But still there are many companies and profiles that come to NMIMS which dnt (atleast till couple of years back) didnt visit DFS. I believe thats changing. So NMIMS is like a gamble - You perform well and get awesome profiles or adjust with something "decent" after having spent 25+ Lakhs.
SIBM Pune is way better in terms of campus and B school life. But I heard that for Finance profiles SIBM doesnt have much to offer (compared to Marketing and HR). Still its a trade off. I might actually slightly lean towards SIBM Pune (for someone who is open to roles and profiles)
IIM Udaipur has been performing well w.r.t operations. I dnt have much idea about Finance roles TBH.
If its IIM Rothak, Raipur and other baby IIMs, XIMB, IMT G and IMI and you are very very clear you want to take Finance then go for DFS. That saves a lot of money.
IIM Udaipur and IIM Vizag might have an edge due to its campus and location. Both are beautiful cities.
For rest all of them there is no question. Go for DFS unless you hate Finance roles.
Even when you are a part of any B school (even DFS), dont try limiting yourself to specific domain such as Finance or Marketing or Operations. Understand that world around is changing. You need to be "Jack of all Trades and Master of one". Explore areas such as Marketing, strategy, data analytics (tableau, alteryx, Power BI) and pick up skills such as Elevator Pitching and Selling yourself. You have resources at the tip of your hands. Pitching yourself (or college) as a specialist in say only valuations, corporate finance or real estate advisory. Same is the case with pitching yourself as a Operations specialist or supply chain expert. It will only take you to some distance. It wnt open up the changing roles. You will miss on switching to roles and companies that provide you diverse learning opportunity. 5-6 years down the line people wont ask how much knowledge you have. Rather they will ask you how you can bring revenue or new clients to the company with your experience and knowledge.
Once you enter the corporate world, usually its upto you how you shape your career. You can start as a Corporate finance professional and go for data science roles by learning stuff. You can stay in the same domain and probably work in the same company. Each person's journey is unique. So take a decision from what you expect from your life. Dont look at the outliers from each college. Look at the general average set of people who are leaving. Linkedin is a huge plus. Search for the colleges and see where the people are. What roles they are in. See if you want to see yourself in that role. Then take a decision.
All the best!
Disclaimer: My brother has been doing decently well. Monetary wise he is earning close to 22-25 LPA after 6-7 years. He has slightly deviated from the core finance profiles and found his interest area. There are others in the batch who are doing even better and there are some who are doing decent. (monetarily). I am an alumnus of one of the B schools mentioned here (not Ivy league). And I wrote this with the help of my brother and my own experience, because my brother wanted to share this as an alumnus of DFS.
What should I opt, considering that I come from a lower middle class family and interested in finance
