Need somebody to help with my SOP for Manchester Business School:

If one were to ask my friends to describe me, they would describe me as an enthusiastic, hard working and intelligent individual. Right from school days, I have been a bright student academically & have been actively involved in a number of extracurricular activities such as dramatics, singing, elocution & debates. I also attended and successfully completed a 15 Day military training course from the Nashik Sainik School. This course was a big boost to my personal development and growth and gave me my first lessons in management and leadership. After completion of my SSC from Holy Cross Convent School, with distinction, I secured admission in Mulund College of Commerce, considered to be one of the leading colleges for Commerce in Mumbai. In college, I developed a special liking for auditing, accounting and marketing subjects. In my Higher Secondary Certificate (12th) Board exams, I stood 6th in college and missed the Maharashtra State merit list by a single mark. Due to a keen interest in Accounts and Audit, taking up the highly challenging All India Chartered Accountancy (CA) course was a natural decision. I have cleared the First and Second level exams of this course in my first attempt.

As a part of the compulsory internship (to be completed as a part of the CA course) I joined a leading audit firm in Mumbai to gain practical experience & to supplement my theoretical knowledge. I had the opportunity of working with some of the most renowned India companies like H.P.C.L (A FORTUNE 500 Organisation), Times of India & Indian Express (Indias top two newspaper dailies) and a no. of other firms.

For my first full time job, I joined HDFC Ltd as a finance intern. I specifically wanted to join HDFC Bank because it is the leading group in India for Corporate Deposits management. At HDFC Ltd, I was presented with a lot of opportunities and responsibilities from the first day itself. I am playing a key role in the task to restructure the ECS process. I am also responsible for working together with the IT team, for analyzing the changes that can be made in the internal systems & processes to improve the user experience and to provide customer service. I have also been roped into the development of a new pilot project called Creams, which is a new system to be launched for storing and handling Consumer complaints in a smooth and efficient manner. My close association with these various programs at the grass root level has helped me to gain a broad overview of the other important modules of the system as well. Apart from this I am also closely associated with the marketing efforts of our new products. I have suggested a few creative ideas for improving the online presence of the organisation as well as suggested new ideas, which can be used to increase the flow of leads for the organisation

Over time, I have felt that a formal education in management, alongside interaction with industry professionals, as part of peer learning groups, will definitely deepen my business perspective.

Investment, being a common thread across every kind of business and function, I can exchange notes with my diverse peers from other functional areas and industries to broaden my knowledge and also contribute to the overall learning.

The rigorous curriculum and the intellectual challenge of the M.Sc. International Business and Management program can serve as the right touchstone to test my experiences against sound theoretical knowledge and access to business leaders what I am sure the school will equip me with.

  1. The rigorous core curriculum will allow me to get a cross functional understanding of all aspects of business management.
  2. The International Exchange program will help me enhance my skills and also broaden my global business horizon
  3. High caliber faculty which acts as a real differentiator in its reputation as a top business school.

It would be a privilege to work with a diverse group from different backgrounds and nationalities, providing me with the opportunity to gain & shape my global outlook.

My post Degree career objective is to gain a foothold into the Indias Private Equity, Venture Capital space as an Associate with the likes of Reliance Venture Asset Management, Barings Private Equity Partners (India), Actis (South Asia) etc. My role here would include deliverables like:

  1. Scouting & closing deals with high potential of success (selection / short listing of potential companies, industry wide competitive intelligence, data analytics ensuring perfect decision making, structuring of deals, negotiations, defining exit options )
  2. Strengthen the industry business school networks with my employers
  3. Scouting talented individuals, ensuring good bench strength of human capital.
  4. Review of all failed deals towards ensuring proactive strategies.

This aspiration surely compliments my present stint career stint. With political stability, and resurgence of Brand India with high ticket acquisitions in the past like Tata-Rovers, Tata-Corus and Bharti Airtels impending decision to acquire Kuwait telecoms Zain towards ensuring a firmer Indian strategic footprint into US$ 9 billion African telecom market India is a place to be.

Completing my International Business and Management M.Sc. from Manchester Business School will give me a global standing and impart me the skills I need to make a good niche in the management and business world. I hope that my qualifications are found satisfactory for admission to this program.

Please suggest changes and where I can improve looking forward to your suggestions and ideas.
