My acads are as follows:

Xth : 79%
XIIth : 72%
BE chemical : 70%
Work Ex : 1 month in production department in a reputed pharma company after that i could not continue the job due to family reasons.

I have also a research work to my credit during my graduation.

Due you thnk i hv a decent enough profile to get a call from IIT D given i score good marks in CAT ?
Will my low work ex be a problem ?

Hey Sagar,

Purely acads are never a sole factor for selection. Though your acads are a bit low, but if you have a good CAT score, there's no reason why you shouldn't get a call.
Secondly, if you make it to the interview, your research work would have an advantage, because holistic research is something that is very close at heart to the professors here.

Hey Raj

At this stage it's very difficult to make a statement on expected cut-off for GD-PI call. Since IIT Delhi has gone for CAT as a medium of admission for the first time, it will be very hard to predict the cut-off.

However, there are discussions going on as to what should be the percentile level and in due course of time we will be able to get back to you on the same.

DMS has it's own website. (www.dmsiitd.org) The official admission notification is not out yet and hence, the admissions page for admissions through CAT will be updated in due course of time. Till then you can post all your querries here.

Hey Nilotpal,

This is the first time DMS, IIT Delhi is holding it's admissions through CAT. Till last year the admissions were through JMET and the top 500 students (approx.) were called for the interview process.

As far as your second query goes, there is no flagship specialization at DMS as such. Please go through the Placement brochure and the list of recent recruiters to have an idea of the companies visiting our campus.

At this point of time, it is very difficult to predict the expected cut off for DMS. Your acads are fine though.
As far as your interest in operations goes, please go through the Placement brochure and the list of recent recruiters to have an idea of the companies visiting our campus.

I was eagerly waiting for this thread :). I will be applying for DMS, IIT delhi only among all IIT's.
I dont want to write my profile here as I know its impossible for seniors to predict and comment on my chances of getting a call.
My queries are:
1. Where and when are the GD/Pi inteviews held?(Is it only in delhi or everywhere? ).
2. When will the application process start and when does the session generally start?
3. Exactly what % of weightage will be given to individual components of a profile?

The application has not yet been opened(for both the IIT's)...but don't worry it will be open even after the cat results are announced(in all probabilities)!!!!!!

Hi Raven,

Here are the answers.
1) Traditionally the GD/PI processes have been held in Delhi only. However for this year I am not absolutely sure.
2) In most probability the application process will start after the CAT results are out. The session starts around mid july along with the sessions of all courses at IIT Delhi. The same should be true this year too.
3) The % weightage has not been formalized yet, but just to give you an idea, last year this weightage was not disclosed till the end.
