I am a student of Human Resources Management and Labour Relations (HRM&LR;) at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai.
This thread is for any queries that you might be having related to admission process or any other activities at TISS, for HR and other programs. I have friends in other programs too so will try and get them to answer queries related to programs other than HR.
Off late, I have been flooded by queries related to TISS through PMs. I would request you all to post the relevant queries on the thread itself so that it can be useful to others. If there is something that you want to ask in particular, you can always PM me
To crack written exam of Tiss, HRM&LR....First; paper I am going to give on Basic Aptitude with Eng., Maths and DI. And then the second paper will be a CAT type paper. With some GK. And Human Resources questions. For the second paper, what books would you recommend? Rather, would you mind sharing what books you read? Also what percentage of the total should one get to get an interview call, approximately?
Last year the HR section was not there in the Question Paper....
For the 2nd paper practice more of DI/DS and RC....U can refer any book, Questions would be on the same lines as CAT....So if u r preparing for CAT that wud suffice...
Get hold of IMS/CL mocks for TISS and practice them...That wud give u the last minute impetus....
For GK read newspapers regularly....and if possible one of the magazines
Just to add to what Manoj has said, for GK, try and get hold of the GK material given by coaching institutes for IRMA. The GK section in TISS exam has some questions based on social issues and Government schemes and policies which is also the case with IRMA.
And no one can predict what would be the cut-off as of now. It would depend on the difficulty level of the paper. Just to give a rough idea, last year, the cut-off for HR was 42 for general category. It might go up or down depending on the difficulty level of the paper. So, go with an open mind without any pre-conceived notions and give it your best shot.
@Boddhisattva said: Could you please throw some light on the companies that higher through the TISS HR programs. Any links, or placement reports of the past can help. Also, generally around what date/month does the TISS exam take place every year ?Thanks.
Well first of all, companies don't "higher"
They HIRE
Traditionally, TISS has abstained from publishing placement reports as it is against our ethos...So, obviously, I cannot disclose the "details" (the ones which u r looking for ) here...
However, when it comes to placements, you can rest assured about TISS...The top-notch companies of almost all the sectors come for summers as well as for finals...
Last year, the summer placement report was published on leading websites, including PG...Search for it...You will get a feel of what it is to be at TISS
We have a guy who has completed his PGDBM from one of the well-known and respected B-Schools of the country...He has also worked for 1 year after PGDBM and then joined TISS-HR
I guess this should answer your question...Do revert fi u have any further queries
Could you please let us know the bible book for "Industrial Relation and Labour Law" which is considered in TISS... Felt like this will be helpful for all the aspirants during both GK section in TISS Entrance and also for the GD part...
Please do not think about all this now...GK is not something that is out of this world...It can be managed if u have prepared well enough for SNAP/IRMA/IIFT...
As far as GDPI is concerned, u will have lot of time to prepare once u get the call...Focus on entrance exam prep for now
@gdm4u87 Thank you for your prompt response , please excuse the err in spelling(I must have overseen it), I made. I will try searching for some placements stats from the past wrt TISS ..
