GD topic- Corporates backing in election. Options to tackle the hidden agenda.
Couldn't speak in the GD. Tried a few times but many others spoke at same time. So took off. Only words the panel might have heard is "We're deviating from the topic" and "Let's not all speak at a time" .
In WAT gave whatever discussion the group had on the topic and then added what my take was on the case.
PI- I talked well and think have impressed the panel. Say, I would rate my interview as 8.5-9/10
Questions asked was work related, a li'l abt why MBA, aspirations, fav leader.
Does someone have any clue abt my chances? If so, which programmes to plunge into? FT, Finance, Marketing? Have opted FT as 1st pref, Finance as 2nd, Marketing as 3rd.

GD topic- You are the regional manager. Gotta discuss laying off of some employees who are with companies from the last 30 years with your team. How do you tackle this situation?
Started off well..... Spoke thrice and made some points. Then, it was all fishy..... Spoke in between to ask others to let a girl speak who was trying from the last 3-4 times.
Overall okayish gd.... Rest on God.
Once you get into your gd room, there will be a waiting period of 20-25 minutes. Make sure you start conversation with others so that you develop rapport and it becomes less stressful.
GD will turn into a fish market. Body language(they were looking at others to check for eye-contact while one was speaking) and clarity is most important.
PI- My PI was basically on my entrepreneurial venture, politics, Soccer, poetry and couple of technical question. The panelists were calm and actually wanted to hear your thoughts, rather than trying to put you under pressure.
The opening is very important. nail it and the interview will be in your favor. 😁

GD topic- Same about laying off employees and how to do it.
Total fish market. At a time 4 or 5 speakers speaking which went on for 15 minutes. I tried to put my point through but stopped to let others speak. After the GD was over, panel asked 7 out of 12 people to speak on the topic (including me!). Conclusion for one minute, which turned out to be another fish market.
Written summary on a paper.
PI- No tell me about yourself and why mba etc.. straightaway began like tell me something that is not mentioned in your personal detail form. I went on about how I was a star performer in TCS training etc... then they asked about my college and does it have snakes? I told them that it did have snakes and the full college history. They asked about what is the speed of light and in return nothing came into my mind (only winds blew in my head at that time ). they gave me other chances by asking speed of sound and escape velocity which I answered perfectly. They also asked other technical questions like why microprocessors are numbered and what is the difference between ultrasonic and supersonic. Difference between electrical and electronics. name some electronics and some telecom companies.
I knew all of the answers but was not able to frame them properly. They went to telecom and what is happening in the field currently. Told them about the spectrum auctions and they asked what is the total billed amount in the auctions till yesterday. I said that I don't remember exactly but it must be around 50 billion rupees. They started heckling is it billion or million? how many zeroes are there in a billion? is 10 lakh 1 billion? Kept my cool and answered them correctly.
Then they moved on to Tata and TCS (where I work). I which fields Tata is present and i said it is present in many fields and started naming them. They cut me off and said tell us where Tata is not there. I said mining, cement. they began cross questioning. In textile? in heavy machinery? in electronics? In blah.. In blah.. I was answering in yes and no.. Finally in one part I said not sure and then they stopped.
Quetioned who is the chairman.. no CEO.. no chairman of TCS?
I said chairman or CEO?
CEO.
I said he is Natarajan..
In the middle of my answer they cut me to ask Natarajan Chandrashekharan?
yes Natarajan Chandrashekharan.
Don't you have respect for him you take his name like this.
I said our work culture is like we call people by there first name. They looked impressed.
Don't be so sure about first names. In south india people have there father's name written as a prefix.
That was it.
Overall PI was more of a stress test. I faltered on many occasions. and I do hope they ignore that I didn't remember speed of light. Fingers crossed but not too hopeful.. 😠 😁
Is it okay if the you cant answer the 1st question in the PI but answer rest of the questions? GD was okay...spoke 2-3 times...wrote everything relevant discussed in the summary after the GD. What are my chances?

Case Study : You are the regional head and due to certain new policies have to fire some of the employees few of which are in the company for 30 yrs. how will you communicate.
Experience - Took 2-3 mins for it to become a fish market. Those unable to speak much were asked their views at the end(I was one of them). 11 member with one absent.
Panel - 2 people. one guy and one lady. Both middle aged. lady always had a smile on her face which was good.
Stats - 5 mins to read the case. 15 to discuss. 5 to wri
te down the summary of discussion.
PI Experience -I appeared in IMTG interview last time out also and have to say the panel this time as well was good, very welcoming and chilled. Some of the questions or points put to me were:
How is it today?
What do you have to say about your GD?
Isn't market same as this GD case where people won't listen to you?
How is GDP calculated? Why only 3 months in IBM?
Why did you leave? What other calls you have?
Have you prepared for the interview season?
Rank IMT amongst the calls you have?
Honestly. What do you bring to and do for the IMT brand if you get selected?
If you get a placement from IMT and then leave the company after 3 months won't that affect IMT Brand?
What do you do in your free time?
What do you know about 'cloud computing'?only pros? no negatives? Security?
Thanks! All the best for your future. It was lovely talking to you.
---------------------
That's it. A hassle free and chilled process. The questions were based on the answers I was giving and also on my personal details form. Good luck to all who have yet to interview. Cheers!
Would be very helpful if people also state the answers that they gave instead of stating just the question in PI.

All the candidates were divided into 8 panels. It all started with documents verification. Took about an hour or so for the process.
Then there was a 15 minute break.
At 2 PM the process started. There was a case study followed by a discussion on it and then writing the summary.
The case study was- You are the zonal manager of a company. Your sales representative sometimes just sends an SMS to you saying that he is visiting an area for sales but actually he doesn't visits there. The other colleagues are complaining about him. But, the sales representative has always achieved 100% targets so he is definitely an asset for the company. What would you do in this situation?
3-4 minutes to think. The panel rang the buzzer, the discussion started. A bit of a chaos. Everyone was fighting but ultimately were saying the same things. A guy in the discussion gave the suggestion for everyone to speak for 30 seconds and was well implemented. As soon as the last person finished speaking, the panel rang the buzzer and summary writing started. We had to put in the thoughts of everyone in the group and not just our thoughts.
Then we were made to wait in a room. And PI started .
My PI was based on my introduction, my personal details form, work-ex. Not at all a grilling session. Couldn't answer a couple of questions though. It was a short one of about 15 minutes.
Everything was moderated quite well.
All the best guys!!
anyone online ??? urgent help needed ... in the personal form, do we need to put preferences in the column , among all the courses offered by a single campus ?

You love adventure trips. You have been to shimla before. What will you do? How will you manage? You have to come to a consensus.
PI- PI was OK. Was in panel 2. Two male profs. They completely ignored my work-ex and started asking me about my college studies. Eutectic point, isotropic view in drawing, boilers, heat, steam, blood, pus, the lot...😠
Answered a few. Dodged a bullet on current affairs, as I did not know enough about current affairs to actually discuss with the panel. 😐
Was asked about my passion.
Guys, please be careful, because one prof was grilling me (stress interview) and the other prof was helping him by asking difficult questions from Mechanical Engineering.
All the best!

2 Minutes into the GD, and it was a fish market. The moderator had to ask us to calm down and speak one by one. All of us were almost speaking the same points again and again. After the GD, people were randomly asked by the moderator to speak individual's view point or sometimes, someone else's view point. After that, we had to write the summary of the GD and 5 minutes were given for that.
PI: There were 2 panelists. After the first question, Tell my about yourself, all the following questions were on my work ex. Coal Scams, Mining and Environment, Reclamation of Mines etc. Compare between, Indian and Chinese Mining Sector.
Some of the questions they asked me are:

Discussion was good. No fish market. we reached a certain conclusion. But the points that were raised became a tad repetitve. And very little time was given for jotting down the conclusion. I could not write everything down!!
PI: Last one to be called for PI. One middle aged Lady and one middle aged man. Quite friendly. though the man spoke very little and nodded a lot :P. Very short interview. Just asked about a typical day at work. Discussed about "selfishness" since I had brought up Ayn Rand. No technical questions. No GK. Overall a good discussion. Although wondering if the duration will affect my chances!! Well..Fingers crossed!! 😃

It was a good discussion but started in a aggressive tone with many people talking at once. Went well after that. Many people had taken a stand and were repeating their points again and again. Everyone got a chance to speak. I chipped in 4-5 times with some solid points which were well appreciated by the group.
PI: Panel of 2 middle aged man. One was very helpful, always smiling and 1 seemed a bit bored. Started with tell me something about yourself and cut in after a short while, some discussion on things I mentioned and then said continue after which I fumbled a bit on from where to pick up again 😠
Then being a comp engg and fresher, some questions about IP, diff btwn IPv4 and IPV6, ethical hacking, how to find out maxima and minima of a curve. Then asked about ERP, Operation Blue Star, 5 year plans and who makes them etc. Somehow I managed to steer the interview towards my strong extracurriculars. Asked me about gaming and then as I had mentioned writing songs and I had attached some of my songs in the file, they asked me to read one out. They seemed impressed 👏 👍 They even asked me that why don't you get these published. I gave the reason that I want to use them for my own band. Interview eneded on a high with smiles around.
My verdict - After the fumble in tell me about yourself, one of them lost interest but later he seemed quite happy and interested when I read the song. Could answer most of the technical questions 😃 and couldn't answer most of the GK ones 😠 Ended on a high note due to the hobbies but I don't know what to make of it. Mixed feelings

Was the first one to get into in the room for PI, it was a healthy questionnaire on a sundry list of my job life, role, questions of what and how I do it, with a dosage of mr popular AK and our beloved mamta didi, and a quick GK test 👍, overall a satisfying session.
