The Masters Programme in Business Economics (MBE) is a marriage of management and economics. The programme has carved out a niche for itself among the most coveted management programmes of the country. The popularity of this programme can be gauged from the fact that it is being offered worldwide, in over 30 universities, including the Harvard Business School. Factors such as globalisation, entry of mighty transnational organisations, convertibility of the rupee and free interest rates, have all made corporate planning an essential and significant aspect of any business activity. In this scenario, predicting the future of the economy has become an increasingly daunting task. To this end, this course aims at developing strong forecasting, problem solving and analytical skills for policy formulation and implementation in a dynamic economic, socio-political and technological environment. As a business economist, you may also specialise in market research or international trade, exports and imports. The course is one of its kind and run by the University of Delhi, South Campus.
Admission Criteria
Till the last year, the admission was dependent upon separate entrance examination for MBE. This year onwards, the call for GD-PI ,is dependent on CAT's score. The application process for MBE would begin shortly but till then make sure; you appear for CAT this year.

Chances are merely dependent upon your performance in entrance exam(CAT),and in GD-PI..You should have 50% atleast in your graduation.give this a glance too-

There is no explicitly mention of weightage to freshers or people with work-ex.

Considering this is the first time MBE is accepting CAT scores, even DU cannot predict the cut offs.
Though the Placements are a teeny bit on the lower side as compared to the Top-20 colleges, MBE has the prestigious DU tag, and the fees is ridiculously low. So sensible minds would not want to let go of this fantastic institute.
Apply now, and lets see what the cut offs would be.
All those who are asking for cutoffs from seniors please understand that it is the first time MBA/MFC will be under CAT and it is really difficult to predict any cutoffs for this very 1st time. CAT score of the current batch will not be adequate to predict as there might be many people who didn't apply to CAT or may have low scores in CAT but may have scored exceptionally well in the entrance test (afterall Delhi people know the value of these courses).
Its a sincere request to end the speculation and use your best judgment to apply for the colleges and try to maximize your CAT score.
Regards.
Hello Friends...
Those who want to know the cut offs for CAT kindly understand that its impossible to predict the cut offs right now....
Reasons-
Its entirely a process of response that this course gets from ppl who are applying across the country...since MBE will take CAT scores so it has now come under a bigger umbrella and ppl are getting aware of gud courses apart
from MBA....so it will be interesting to c wt the cut offs gonna be...
and regarding sectional cut offs...its yet to c
as CAT as sectional cut offs....toh there might be some consideration of this sort...bt the final verdict will given by the department. So its always beneficial or rather it has become a necessity to strike a balance between all the sections and maximize you score across all the sections.

Hi , I can very well understand the jagged waves going around at this point of time . Let me try to address a few doubts.
Since, this is the first time that we are going through THE CAT ROUTE, it is very tough to tout upon the cut off range though a little bit of common sense and analysis can make the task very easy.
Comparison among the B schools is not allowed on PG but one can always get the info regarding the PLACEMENTS from the web sites of the institutes and also their fee structure. After doing the research on the data of the b schools, one can easily expect the cut off to be in the range of 95 +/-1 HOWEVER, this does not , at all, mean that a person expecting 90 %ile should not apply for it because of the simple reason that we are not completely aware of the criteria for giving calls as the profile can also play a role on D Day and also because there may be some deviation between the Actual and Expected cut offs.
Hope this helps.

Hi rishabh ! please refer to my last post regarding the expected cut offs.As posted earlier, the cut off is expected to hover around the 95 %ile mark..

Hi Sir I can very well understand that these are extremely prestigious program of delhi university after FMS and are definitely at par with if not better than IMI and IMT Ghaziabad, but considering that this is the first time MBE is using CAT score do you think if a person scores 95%le in cat it will be safe for him or her to atleast secure a call from MBE or it can touch the NITIE mark of 98%le considering that there are just 82 seats available for the admission compared with more than 300 seats available in IMT.
please guide sir i am scoring 90+ percentile in TIME mocks should I apply?
