Hi Guys, I am Venkat. I had applied for the ISB - class of 2014(R2) in 2012 and got rejected after the final personal interview. My GMAT score was 610 and 4.5 for essay writing. I scored 50 in quantitative but scored abysmally low in verbal section hence the low score, I recollect it was somewhere in early 20s. I had close to 10 yrs exp then and when I had applied was working for AMEX as Regional Sales Manager.. I was a replacement for an ex-ISB grad who also was his batch's president - 'did not mention this portion anywhere in my application'. I had won 2 CEO awards at Amex for good work (given on an annual basis to top contributors across divisions in the company). I am now working for a startup as a VP for partnerships and Business Development.
Did not get to know the reasons for rejection.. I am planning on re-applying and also applying for IIM-A - PGPX.. My question is should I redo my GMAT?
Hey Guys,
Every year I look at the PGPX thread and wonder, should I go for this year or not. The apprehensions are largely motivated with the fact that everything is going good with my job, profile and growth. Yet, as I am only a BTech from a pvt. college (India), I wonder, if it will prove to be the impediment in near future. My profile:
Class X - 80%
Class XII - 66%
BTech (IT) class of 07 (62%)
Yeah, have always been an average student
Work-Ex - 6.5 yrs in IT in Business Analysis/Consulting Profile
Currently working in an Australian company, based out of Australia.
Permanent profile with a pkg of $110,000 AUD.
I have extensive experience of working at client locations and have worked in over half a dozen countries. This experience helped me to take the right decision for my career path. I also understand that most of the international B-Schools in APAC are no match for ISB/IIMs (Executive).
I have a direct question. If I look only in IT and Consulting (international placements), what is the avg. pkg offered in IIM-A PGPX.
Regards,
Dreamer
Hi,
Recently, a senior completed his 1 Year MBA from IIM-Lucknow and I guess he had completed 7 years of work-ex. The placement package he bagged was about 18L. Now, my question is what kind of package one should consider after pouring almost 22L in PGPX? Also, is 1-Year PGPX even regarded as valuable as 2 Years MBA from IIMA?
I am planning to give GMAT in September this year..Please let me know about my chances of getting into a good bschool with the below profile:
X-81.2%
XII-70.8%
BTech-70.65% CGPA-8.2
EC: participated in various college tech fests, head coordinator for my own college's tech fest. President of branch committee. various medals in athletics during school. I have learned Spanish and working on French.
Work Ex: have joined my family business and will have a work ex of 24months by June 2015, associated with an NGO and event management companies.
if its not enough then what else can i do to improve my profile?Hi yesPGPX,
Can you give a brief on the interview process? Will the interview panel stress mainly on the candidate's work experience or will the interview be based on the candidate's academic qualification also?
I've attended IIM-B,L, and S interviews in the past for PGP and was always found wanting on questions related to Mechanical Engineering (my branch in B.Tech) 😁..
Any other information on the interview would be great. Thanks

I will advice to retake GMAT.
With 50 in quants, you can easily touch 680-700 range.
Work on verbal.
Higher GMAT with such a good profile will enhance your chances.
