[2023] Which B-Schools should you apply to?

my acads are as follow.

Xth- 70%
XIIth 60%
Grad. 60%
Just completed graduation in last September with non-engineering background and with an OBC quota. From Which colleges I can expect calls if I do well in CAT. And I'm going to write IIFT, CMAT and NMAT also.
plz help
@notimetowaste said: but with no work -ex where does this type of profile stand, assuming a good/decent score in respective entrance?
Only work ex is not a part of profile.

Some of the other things that can make a profile good are :

1. Excellent academic profile
2. Renowned name of the college you graduated from (Like IIT's, St Stephens, etc..)
3. Extra-curricular achievements

And other achievements if any.

You have a decent profile. Your AIMCAT Score is also kind of decent. Try to improve further and take it to 95 or 95+.

I would suggest you to apply to the following colleges for sure:

MDI Gudgao
FMS Delhi
NMIMS Mumbai
NITIE Mumbai
SPJAIN Mumbai
XLRI Jamshedpur
XIM Bhubneswar

For rest you can decide after taking CAT/XAT or even after results. Stay tuned to this thread.

Guys. Check out the cut off scores posted by avinashkrjha for 2011 season and I guess you can make a selection based on your mock scores (start with institutes from around 10-15%tile above what you're scoring in mocks and go till a safe zone or last backup option). At the same time consider other factors like location, placements, electives/specializations offered, faculty or any other criteria you may have. I guess you should be able to boil down to the few you want to apply to. If still confused, go ahead and post and there are so many here to help out. Simply posting your profile and asking where to apply doesn't make sense. Do your bit of homework before you ask for choice of institutes.

If you do well in CAT, you can expect calls from most of the IIM's, FMS.

Also write XAT if you think you can score above 90%ile in XAT.

Thank you sr bt I'm not prepared for that right now because what math is asked in XAT is supposed to be hard and which is out of my ambit right now.

That is correct. But that is the case with most of the aspirants. And if you are preparing for CAT, you will def be able to solve few questions of XAT as well. You anyways are not required to solve all the questions as there won't be that much time available with you. So you just need to clear the sectional cut offs. You still have 3-4 months to decide on this. As the last date for registering for XAT will be somewhere in November. So try giving your best in preparations till then. All the best.. !!

hi,
my acads and work ex is,
10th - 68%
12th - 72%
engg - 65%
work- ex :- 12 months
is there any chances of getting any top 20 b-schools for such profile and preferably which college will be from 20 college by managing good marks in that respective entrance for that colleges.

Is it ok if i target only CMAT-13 as i have just started my preparations? I dont think i have enough time for other exams.

Yes, there are very good chances of getting calls from many of the colleges from Top 20 if you score well in CAT, XAT, IIFT, NMAT, SNAP.. !!

Right now, focus on preparations for the written examinations. All the best.. !!

There is enough time for all the exams. You just need to manage your time well. Start thinking positive and start doing preparations efficiently. Get back if you have any query. All the best.. !!

thank u sr for the most considerable advice. I will surely think about it.

A percentile score of around 90 in AIMCAT is very good. This is because only serious candidates take AIMCAT. So you should be able to make it to the top 2-3 percentile in CAT. Keep up the momentum and you can do even better. ATB

Hi,

I left infosys in March last year, due to family problem and then after 2-3 months i started preparing for Mba. but i could not get through due to a bad score. This year i thought of giving interviews but dropped the idea and started preparing for MBA again.. Could you guys please tell will this gap effect me in interviews or getting admission??

@[370697:avinashkrjha]
thanx......!

some times the FACULTY factor is very much important to select a good business school, rather then placement record & infrastructure

@[370697:avinashkrjha] @[316381:visionIIM-ACL] I am interested in doing Operation Management.Where should I apply?

10th-81
12th-75
Btech-71
Cat-11-61%ile
XAT-11 62%ile.

Don't think about the gap and focus on preparations. Drop won't get you any negative point and won't stop you from reaching any top b-school. People have made it to the top b-schools in past with drops. But you might have to justify the reasons during your GD/PI. So try to score high in CAT/XAT and rest will fall in place automatically. All the best.. !!
