Admission Process
All the applicants are admitted to the Pune University courses based on the marks scored in their qualifying degree, entrance examination or admission tests. Candidates need to score above a specified mark in these exams to get admitted to a particular course or discipline.
The entrance exams include MHT CET (The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test), CAT (Common Admission Test), MAT (Management Aptitude Test), XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test), ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions), NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test), GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) etc.
- For the M.Sc, MA, M.Com, LLM, M.L.I.Sc, BA, PG B.Sc (Applied) and M.Tech courses, admission is based on performance in the entrance exam conducted by the university.
- Admission to the M.Tech programme is based on GATE score or performance in MHT CET conducted by DTE Maharashtra.
- For medical courses such as MD, MS, DM and MCh, admission is based on the marks scored in NEET entrance examination.
- For the BA in Performing Arts and MCA courses, admission is based on performance in the entrance exam conducted by the university.
- For the MBA in Biotechnology course, students are admitted on the basis of performance in national level entrance examination approved by PUMBA or Entrance Exam followed by Group Discussion & Personal Interview conducted by PUMBA.

Results and Cut-off
Pune University declares the cut-off list for its several courses and degrees once the results of their respective entrance examinations are calculated. The candidates need to obtain a score which is equal to or more than the cut-off mark specified by the university to get admitted to their desired courses.
For example, M.Tech aspirants need to clear the MHT CET or GATE Cut Off, Medical students need to cross the NEET cut-offs and MBA candidates need to clear the CAT, MAT, XAT or ATMA cut-offs. The cut-offs are relaxed for reserved candidates like SCs, STs and OBCs.

The university has a couple of a number of facilities available on the University campus. The library at Savitribai Phule Pune University keeps a rich collection of about 4,77,173 prints books, theses and bound volumes of periodicals, 4,439 manuscripts, 5,774 e-books.
Pune University library also offers 11,363 specimen copies, 385 CDs, 44 films, 5,151 pamphlets, 5,337 maps, 110 clipping and a lot more. The university provides hostel or lodging provisions for both boys and girls. It has seven hostels for boys and six for girls and can provide accommodation to over 1221 students.
There is also a University Guest House, which is well-furnished and comfortable and consists of 34 rooms along with dining facilities. The Pune University campus has a Basketball Court, Cricket Ground, Football Ground, Swimming Pool and Volleyball Court.
