National Fellowship & Scholarship for Higher Education of Scheduled Tribe Students (Central Sector Scheme)
The National Fellowship & Scholarship for Higher Education of Scheduled Tribe Students is a Central Sector Scheme that offers scholarships to ST category students who wish to pursue higher degree courses such as MPhil and Ph.D. To be eligible for the National Fellowship Programmes, students must have successfully completed their Post-graduation/Master's degree.
The selection of students for these scholarships is based on merit. Interested students can apply for the scholarships during the specified time period through the website https://fellowship.tribal.gov.in.
The total number of seats available for the National Fellowship Programmes is 750. However, in cases where the number of applicants exceeds the available slots, the selection will be based on the marks obtained in the post-graduation examination.
If there is a shortage of eligible ST category students, the unclaimed fellowships from the previous year will be carried forward to the next academic year.

Eligibility
- Students who have obtained more than 50% marks or equivalent grade in their previous final examination and whose parents/guardians have a total annual income from all sources not exceeding INR 2.50 lakhs are eligible for the scholarship.
- The scholarship is available to students from minority communities, including Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, and Zoroastrians (Parsis) as defined under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.
