In what might sound like sweet music to some aspirants, deadlines of registration for Xavier Admission Test (XAT) 2013 and applications for the Post graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) program of SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai has been extended. The last date for both processes was supposed to be today, November 30. XAT aspirants can now register till December 5, 2012 whereas deadline for SPJIMR applications is December 4, 2012.
Many applicants for XAT as well as the PGDM program of SP Jain had to contend with a lot of technical problems during the time of registration. Abbasali Gabula, deputy director, external relations and administration, SPJIMR said, “There has been a lot of traffic on our website in the past few days which led to system failure. We decided to extend the deadline so that the students don’t miss out due to technical errors on our end.”
Prof Vishwa Ballabh, XAT chairperson, spoke about the reasons for extension of the XAT deadline. He said, “We saw a large number of applicants coming to our website earlier this week. We extended the deadline so the students get more time to register for the exam. We also did it to facilitate demand draft payment as November 30 was falling on a weekend and it takes a couple of days to process the drafts.”
Talking about the hurdles students faced while registering for the exam, Prof Ballabh added, “Banks accept only printed demand drafts but many students did not send us these which led to the delay.” When told about students facing a problem with debit cards as well, “Whoever has paid the money will get to write the exam,” he concluded.
