According to published reports, Indian Navy will select candidates into the 10+2 B Tech cadet scheme through JEE (Main) ranks, instead of class 12 results. Earlier, the candidates were selected on the basis of their PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) percentage, scored in their class 12 board examination. The move can result to more candidates taking JEE (Mains) examination in 2017, in order to become eligible for the January 2018 courses offered by Indian Naval Academy (INA).
However, talking to PaGaLGuY, the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Deputy Secretary J K Yadav informed that no such information has been communicated by the authorities to him, as yet. “We have received no letter or notice from INA regarding the same. Our job is to conduct the examination, and if Navy is willing to use the JEE (Mains) ranks, it is upto them,” said Yadav.
Yadav further informed that the JEE (Mains) ranks have been used for selection of candidates in the Army last year. “I am not sure whether the Navy will take the same route this year,” concluded Yadav.
