Students outside their classrooms with their hands up was a common sight on January 23 at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Wadala. It was not a mass punishment but students swooning to musical performances at the Just Jam evening held in the college campus.
Security measures at VIT were beefed-up at the college entrance to ensure the event goes undisrupted. The evening kicked off with a college band performing on “Pichle Saat Dino Mein” from the movie “Rock On!!” to sweep the crowds off their feet. It was not just the students’ performances which made the evening at VIT an affair to remember. An alumnus of VIT, Pooja Mazumdar, set the stage on fire as she performed with her band of musicians on original compositions. The performance by Professor Vivek Pandit was greatly applauded by the students.
The chief guest of the evening was actor Tanuj Virwani, who is starring in the upcoming movie “One Night Stand”, slated to release in April. PaGaLGuY exclusively spoke to Tanuj on his visit to VIT. “The energy of students at VIT reminds me of my college days.” Talking about the upcoming fest, he said, “I’d love to be a part of Verve 2016. If I’m invited here and my schedule permits, I shall definitely try to come with my co-star Sunny Leone.”
Virwani also unveiled the logo of “Verve-2016: A Genesis”, the annual fest of VIT which is scheduled from February 16 to 18. The logo was lauded by faculties of VIT and the deafening cheers of the crowds. “The new logo is really cool,” said Sanket Kamble, a student at VIT.
The evening ended with the Cultural Secretary of VIT, Amruta Parker, thanking the students for their participation in Just Jam and assuring them that Verve- 2016 is going to be “bigger and better” than ever.
