On behalf of University Grant Commission, the National Eligibility Test is conducted for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Assistant Professor Both in Indian Universities & Colleges.
Till recently, the CBSE conducted the NET in 84 subjects at 91 selected Cities of spread across the country.
From December 2018 onwards, the UGC NET (for Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both), will be conducted by the NTA.
The award of JRF & Eligibility for Assistant Professor, both or Eligibility for Assistant Professor, only depends on the performance in both the papers of NET in aggregate. However the candidates qualifying exclusively for Assistant Professor are not to be considered for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
Candidates who qualify the Exam for eligibility for Assistant Professor are governed by the rules & regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.
UGC NET 2019 notification (short notice) out!! The official notification of UGC NET June 2019 will soon be released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam of UGC NET will be held in June 2019. As of now, an official public notice has been released for the exam of UGC NET 2019. The online application for UGC NET 2019 June session will start from 1st March 2019 onwards. 30th March is the last date of UGC NET 2019 exam.

National Testing Agency conducts the exam of UGC NET to test the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professors as well as Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in India’s universities and colleges.

UGC NET June 2019 Eligibility Criteria
NTA will release the eligibility criteria for UGC NET 2019 with its official notification.
- However, as per notifications of previous year’s, a candidate must possess a Master’s degree in the relevant subject, in order to apply for this exam.
- Candidates must have scored a minimum of 55% marks in their post graduation, in order to apply for this exam (General Candidates). For all other candidates, this criteria is 50%.
- Final Year Students can also appear for this exam, subject to the fact that they complete their course with required eligibility requirement.
- There is no age limit for students applying for Assistant Professor, however, for students applying for Junior Research Fellowship, there is an upper age limit of 30 years.
UGC NET June 2019 Selection Process
UGC NET exam comprises of 2 papers, which are conducted online. These are:
- Paper-I (General – Common for all candidates)
- Paper-II (Subject-specific)
UGC NET Exam Pattern & Syllabus
Here is the exam pattern of UGC NET 2019 exam:
- Paper-I
This exam consists of 50 questions and each question carries 2 marks, constituting a total of 100 marks. - Paper-II
This is the subject-specific exam which consists of total 100 questions and each question carries 2 marks. This paper constitutes a total of 200 marks. - There is no negative marking.
