TNPSC (The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission) has changed the syllabus for the Combined Civil Services exam II. The exam earlier consists of 2 sections-general studies and general English for 150 marks each. Now it will have sections on general studies for 175 marks and an aptitude and mental ability test for 25 marks. The new section will be at the level of class 10 or SSLC.
The exam will be for 300 marks and the candidates will be given 3 hours. The TNPSC Combined Civil Service II will be an objective type exam. The minimum qualifying marks for all categories will be 90 marks, as per the official notification.
The TNPSC Group II main exam consists of 2 parts, Part A will have English to Tamil translations and Tamil to English translations for 100 marks of which 25 marks are needed to be eligible for the exam. This will make the acquaintance of Tamil a major part of the mains as well.

The Part B of the Group II main exam will have hints development, precise writing, comprehension, essay writing on Thirukkural and letter writing with all jointly constituting for 200 marks.
For interview posts, the main exam will be conducted for 300 marks and the oral test carries 40 marks. Therefore, the total marks are 340 marks. The minimum qualifying marks for all communities is 120 out of 340 marks. The main exam for non-interview posts carries 300 marks. The minimum qualifying marks is 90 for non-interview posts.
