The Date

It was drizzling. He started to get drenched, but he wasn’t worried. He was about to meet the woman of his dreams. She was there, sitting in a table at the far end of the restaurant, looking nervously at her watch and at the entrance. She looked like an angel in that blue dress. “You’re late. I thought you would never show up”, she complained. “Well here I am. I’ll be your entertainment tonite, ” he said grinning. She wasn’t amused. The Joker’s dialogue didn’t suit him at all. “I am sorry I was caught up at work,” Raagav said with more smiles. She knew he was lying, but lying kind of made him look cute. They sat down to order food. Raagav ordered a plate of pani puri for himself and he seated himself in a way that he could watch the highlights of an old Ind-Aus match from a vantage point. He could ask no more. She began talking about her family. Raagav’s mind went back to his. He could imagine the look 0n his mom’s face if she came to know about his date. That broomstick in his house came to his mind instantly. She was now talking about her college, her friends. He thought of his friends. They would be shocked to know that he, Raagav Narayanan went on a real date and not the one in the calendar. Maybe he should take a photo with her and post it as his profile pic in Facebook. He could imagine the world turning upside down and that thought made him feel good. The rest of the evening went like a dream. He was even able to make her laugh a few times. It was time to leave. Time never flew so fast. He bent down slightly to open the door for her. She mistook it as cue to kiss her, and she went close to him. Sensing an opportunity, Raagav, too came close to kiss her….

“Dude! Stop biting my lips”, Raagav’s friend and roommate, Arun woke up shouting. “This is the reason why you don’t share rooms with guys in a relationship ”… ?
